Gentlemen:

(And no, that's not the BLU Spy)

I'm coming back from my third war patrol in a Sargo-class and I'm out of everything but 20mm. Worse, I'm up near that port with three words to its name, more or less NE of Singapore, I'm at half fuel and SUBPAC wants me to visit Singapore for photoreconnaissance. Oh, and courtesy of a lucky shot or two from an escort in a convoy I smashed, I'm down to about a third of my hull rating remaining.

What's worse? I have to get to Fremantle because the Japanese took my home port of Surabaya. No problem; just transit the Sunda strait and watch the fuel gauge the whole way. Oops, there's artillery there that finds me at night---add another 20% to the damage meter.

I get back to base on fumes having sunk a pile of tonnage, including a T3 at anchor in the aforementioned port. The thanks I get for a patrol where I pick up some big medal and skip one out of four or five objectives is the scrapping of my boat (alas, Searaven!), the "Resign now?" screen and a bloody P-class boat. In the Kriegsmarine, I'd have the Knight's Cross by now.

There any sort of career editor I can use that'll fix this right up? :damn:

You might check your deodorant????

I brought home a boat shot up about as bad and got a Gato.
Old Spice here.

Quit sending reports to SUBCOMPAC. When your fuel and weapons loadout start to dwindle, just head back to base.

It wasn't the Admirals, command left this guy in charge and went for coffee.

Incoming message:

`To Captain Dietz,

`From Admiral 8Q.

You really must be more careful with your little submarine. Remember that you are in a tiny boat that relies on stealth, invisibility, and subterfuge. Decking it out with destroyers or land based artillery is the job of a Cruiser or Battleship. I'm afraid I have to agree with the other Admiral's decision to demote you.

Better luck! :salute:

Bah! We ARE talking about the US military, aren't we? Wasn't that guy who received your promotion the Admiral's daughter's shackup? Wasn't that sugar boat HIS deathtrap until now? See how it all makes sense? Why things are working normally after all!:D

Now my advice, sailor, is to take that piece of horse squeeze out of port with a smile on your face. It has those slow but reliable Mark 10s on board, which actually go boom when they hit the target. You have a submarine that is optimized for underwater speed, not surface speed and can do 10 knots submerged, faster than his fancy dancy fleet boat. Your new ride is the pattern for that new-fangled Type XXI the Germans will build in a couple of years. It's not so bad.

Now go kill several Japanese freighters and tankers. The loser whose main qualification is he's poking the Admiral's daughter never sank anything with your boat. Show the admiral that he might make a better decision next time. Failing that, show everyone that the admiral is the one with a problem, not you.

Who shives a git what boat you got? This fleet boat captain would sail in a wolfpack with you any day. Sink 'em all!

Robbins couldn't have put it any better.
How else to impress the Admirals.
