Totally agree, once this game has it's LAST patch released and a ****load of mods and supermods, IT WILL BE the best submarine simulator ever (think SH3 GWX but with a much greater immersion, eye candy, etc.)

The only mod I REALLY needed was a spread angle dial and rudder dials.

But other than that, Im a happy camper.

I try to go around the sub for the orders, so I dont use the button for Battle stations. I dont use the button for man deck gun or flack. I try to do it the way the captain would do it.

I just start sub simulation with Silent Hunter V and i love it. Yeah the game need a lot of tweak to be really good, yes we are tired to wait for a finished game (where ? where ??) and we can be very thanksfull for the modding community.
Personnaly i use TheDarkWraith UI MOD and Capthelm audio and lightning mod and i sneak around for new awesome MOD to enhance this very good, ... but unfinished game. The DRM is really annoying, 3 time server down since i start :stare:

I miss a couple of things...
1 - radio messeges (like in SH3 + GWX)
2 - a band when I´m leaving port :D

I also hope some patch or mod will fix the ships running ashore issue

Despite the DMR and some unfinished touches I am already having much fun with SHV and I would surely keep on playing with it (provided UBI servers work :88) )

The possibilities about modding and scripting makes it simply awesome and Subsim Modders comunity are my heroes.

I just dream one day someone release a MOD where you can command a DD and we can start having tournaments and competitions sub vs DD.
I am sure it would be the most popular MOD ever :up:

I need some things fixed:

1. Man the deck gun/flak gun repaired. The men just do not do it.

2. Hydrophone man is a snoozer.

3. My crew animation needs some work.

4. Add a return to course button and compass on the UI

With just those items fixed the game would be a 9/10 for me. As it stands now it is a great game and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I would be estatic if the entire PTO with fleets could be added! I can only wish!

I too love this game, not had so much fun since I first got SH3, didn't really like SH4?

Only trouble is, there are far to many bugs in it still, I have been using quite a few mods (thanks to all modders) to make this subsim more realistic, however now I keep getting CTD's when trying to take a screenshot or when taking a picture through the periscope?

I guess I will have to take out some mods and see if that cures it?

That would be soooo sweet! Just imagine standing by the attack periscope and see people tumbling down the ladder!

OR seeing people rushing to the front of the sub during crashdive :D

I too would love to see this. Even better is if it could be triggered by a "Crew Below" or "Clear the Bridge" (or whatever they said).

In fact, I would just like that command even if it only made them disappear. Then I go down and the boat submerges.

I actually think sh5 is better than stock sh4 which I couldn't really get into.

SH3 is still the best but give it a few months, few patches and mods and it will be a winner. They do need to fix the DD AI as it is a bit easy to evade them and the moment and the mods that are out fix a fair amount already.

I too love this game. I've installed a few mods that have taken the game nearer to what I want from it. I'm having as much fun now as I used to when playing SHIII.

I even like the crew management bit where you have to go and talk with them...I just whished there more of if. The bashing of the 1. officer is getting a bit old. I trust in the modders to do something about that :D

I love the sub interior:salute:, cept for the lack of correct lighting, the wardroom, and huge lack of clutter, its cool. I hate everything else. if I rated this game, i'd rate it at a 1 out of 10. why? cause they granted my wish that they'd make a full interior and first person cam, and unchain me from being stuck in one spot,(and really crappy spots) in each area of the sub. And, 1 CAUSE THEY TOOK AWAY EVERYTHING WE NEED TO PLAY THE GAME WITH!!!!!!!!!!!!! the TDC computer to compute fireing solutions for toredoes, the keyboard is almost empty of controls, no 'depth under keel' no full rudders, NO UNITE CAM, no station shortcuts! NO GRAMOPHONE, no TDC system... NOOOO TDC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY!???:wah: WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY NO TDC!??????:damn: the XO gets all solution information half assed, range is always too short, ship speed is always way to fast, most of the times in the 100s knots, mouse so frickin laggy it takes minutes to move it around the screen. I suspect the reason why you can't end the mission is that you are at the wrong port. There should be a small "sub" diamond? shaped icon at a port to the west, try there. I'm at work so I can't check and could be wrong!

The mouse lag: Try vsync off if you've got it on and vica versa. You could try lowering graphics settings a little. The new graphics engine does need a fairly reasonable graphics card when everything is turned on.

I will reserve my agreement with the OP until AFTER UBI fixes the show stoppers :hmmm: with a patch or two (and they had better be FREE).

Until then GWX 3.0 still has SH5 beat by a wide margin.

Hey McBeck! Nice to see some old salts still around :salute: I haven't gotten SH5 and stopped playing SH3 a couple years ago, really just haven't had the time. I will wait to see what SH5 brings and in the meantime I may fire up SH3 again. Funny to think of how far we have come since the SH2 days. I still have that loaded and heavily modded on an old PC and keep it around just for that reason. Talk about a game with bugs :damn: I don't believe 90% of the poeple posting here now ever played that one or have any idea how much time and effort the community put into making that a decent sub sim. If that mess of a game could be improved then SH5 will certainly make giant leaps, although only by the efforts of modders. All in good time....

I love SH-V, at least I am trying hard.
It's the first client-based MMORPG which works in single user mode;
I hope the above makes sense.
In the meantime, fortunately/unfortunately SH-III+GWXv3.0 will be with us for a long time.
How strange, a 2005 game to be better than a 2010 game !
