Valve co-founder Gabe Newell made some comments about DRM that drew cheers from the audience when he collected his Pioneer Award at the Game Developers Choice Awards. "One thing that you hear us talk a lot about is entertainment as a service," Newell said. "It’s an attitude that says ‘what have I done for my customers today?" He went on to relate this to DRM: "It informs all the decisions we make, and once you get into that mindset it helps you avoid things like some of the Digital Rights Management problems that actually make your entertainment products worth less by wrapping those negatives around them." That's a perfect description of SH5, with negatives wrapped all around it. The wise will stay away!

So your one of the wise? The only thing bad about SH5 is the fact that it came with DRM, without DRM it would be business as usual around here.

Yes the days of ranting over the Scope in SH3 and the bugs in SH4 are over.

For the most part I haven't heard many complaining about bugs in SH5. I doubt it is because there are not any in the game. But because most of the time people can't play the game in order to find the bus to complain about the.

Nostalgia is not as good as it used to be.

Newell is great for the industry, but Steam itself is DRM. Also, he talks about being focused on his customers (which I agree with) but Steam actually pockets most of the $$$ rather than making their products cheaper or giving it to the devs.

I wonder how much of his speech was PR is all I am saying. Nowadays you can not trust these kinds of attitudes based on speeches alone.

Actions speak louder than words, let's see if Gabe can put his money where his mouth is.
