How do I reload the tubes? Do I need to be surfaced?

Really annoying just run out of torps at a crucial moment in a convoy attack.

IIRC you have to be surfaced, and stopped. under two knots i think.

Damn that's not going to happen with a destroyer prowling around.

Yet to try this, but nice to know been messing about too much with SH5 rather than getting into it.

Ok managed to escape and surface at zero knots and still no loading of external torpedoes.

Anyone any ideas?

Make sure you click and drag the external reserve torpedo into your internal reserve slot.

I under two knots i think.

My crew moved torpedoes inside the boat while I was going at full speed, waves were at least 1 m high and they moved both the aft and bow torpedoes at the same time. It took ~ 30 mins. This was not possible in reality (judging from e.g. Paterson).
