Ok, so I did the tutorial, docked at Kiel with half my iron crosses bar filled. Couldn't select a mission so started a new campaign and skipped the tutorial. Now I only have one cross under Total Germany and it won't fill up no matter what I do even though I've been on 2 successful patrols, sunk the tonnage, gotten the green mission objective complete, docked at the second pen and even got the VIIC right after the A. Still it won't fill up and the mission I just completed (twice) is still available for request. Is this a known bug or am I doing something wrong?

Be more aggressive!
:) Wait, that's not very helpful. Why could you not select a mission, I don't understand what you mean?

Yeah.... but talking about the cause of your little problem is taboo here. :haha:
Subsim is a legitimate website so I would recommend legitimately obtaining the game if you want help with your problems.

Came back to this thread because I knew there was an "iron crosses won't fill up" thread, and something similar just happened to me.
After torpedoing a lone merchant, making a daring attack on Methil, and then gunning down/torpedoing another lone merchant, I got a "Completed" window. Fine, I think, although, wow, wasn't expecting it nearly that early, must've been one heavy tanker. Oh well, no complaining from me!
Except... no promotion points, and no iron cross.
It turned out that it wasn't the Mission I had accomplished, it was BDU's stupid "reposition here and continue your patrol" order that I had received while on patrol before my harbour raid:rotfl2:.
And yes, unlike certain others, I did buy the game:O:.
