hi guys,
have you ever wondered about some ai actions? perhaps it is just my imagination but whenever i dive towards a patrolship it turns away, as if he knows im there and dont want to get torpedowned...:hmmm:

same goes if i fire a torpedo beyond 5km. i just started with manual tdc and managed to hit a destroyer at 7,7km. however most of the times it follows another waypoint by that time and i miss. strange thing is, when i load the game and dont shoot it just continues his route...:damn:
i use g7e torps so it should not notice the torp, but what the hell

any suggestions? what r your imaginations?

Not seen that behaviour yet, but welcome aboard!

early german torps where not very unreliable and very limited in performance. for long range kills

uboat captains would slip into the middle of convoys for close kills mainly if they could, under the cover of darkness.

Not sure if its modeled in the game, but destroyers could hear torpedoes on their hydrophones just as easily as you can. It would make sense that they would take evasive action.

oh okay, that hydrophone would explain it. damn stupid me, thought that the torp was quiet enough with an e-engine. then i will probably use the steam powered torps. they r much faster so they have less time responding, right?

i cannot use the magnet pistol. i read some threads about it and it seems to be bugged. i take a look in the game files, the detection range should be 2 meters. increased it to 5, but the torp just miss, although it almost scratch off the painting...:o am i missing something here?

Yep. I've hit a couple of destroyers using steam torps on fast setting.
And missed a few using the electric torps. The DDs have a bit more time to evade.

Also, at the moment electric eels leave a visible wake. Dunno if the game is coded to respond to this wake, or the DDs are just hearing the torps on their sound gear.
