I have loved Silent Hunter since no. 3. I played it heavily including GWX without being quite as hardcore as some of the chaps on here and not getting involved too much with mods. Bought SHIV and again played it heavily and while impressed with the graphics was generally disappointed with the gameplay even when patched. So went back to SHIII.
I have looked forward to SHV for a long time and bought it at 8am on the day of release and I have been playing it pretty much all the time since.
Initially I was quite disappointed; the graphics were awesome and fortunately I have a laptop able to handle them but the gameplay was disappointing. Many of the functions available and essential in SHIII were missing which made it almost impossible to control my boat effectively but I did think that the basics of an awesome game were there.
I have been a member of this forum for a few years but didn't really contribute but decided to have a look when the new game came out. I am so glad that I did, within a day of the game coming out, a mod for a compass and shift keys were available, thanks so much guys!!! With these mods the game has become awesome!!! My other concerns such as morale not remaining after a save etc, I hope will be sorted when a new patch comes out in the next couple of weeks or so.
I love the missions and interaction with the crew which make the game so much better than previous incarnations, I just hope that a mod or DLC comes along that allows IXC subs and extention to the 1943 end of game.

So basically thanks guys for making an ok game awesome!!!!!
