what kind of laptop would be able to run SH5 on settings that are not complete minimum?

i've never had a games capable laptop before, but since we moved (abandoning the old desktop - a much loved hand-modded Dell server!) and have had a second child we don't really have the space for a desktop anymore and it's time to replace our aged thinkpads anyway.

So, I'm thinking of getting a games capable laptop this time.

Well, I have a laptop with the following specs:

Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53GHz
4GB RAM
1GB GeForce GTX 260M
Vista HP 64-bit

I'm running SH5 at everything max (except Shadows because they're bugged right now, and AA which I only set to 2x because I really don't need anything higher) at 1920x1080. Get about 45-60FPS outside of the sub, 25-30FPS inside the sub.

My laptop that I mentioned above I got for about $1500 CDN from Newegg.ca. Quite cheap considering I'm pretty much able to play every game out for PC right now at max settings, even ones like Crysis.

I run SH V in a HP DV8 1050ES properly, I do not get "Awesome" FPS but it is quite playable with high settings. btw 15 to 40 fps (15 in the Control Room only)

I use Win 7 64 and the video Card is a Nvidia GT 230M of 1Gb

Although not as fluent in fps as in my main PC with a GT 285, I am quite happy with the laptop perfomance.

I wouldn't buy a laptop for gaming.

But otherwise, you should look at the laptop with the best mobile graphics card currently available.

I've got my G73JH-A1 a few days ago.

The parts are as good as you can possibly find for a desktop.

Cost me 1700 CND.

Its in I7, 8gb ddr3, 1tb hd, ati 5875 1gb ram ddr5, 1920x1080 full hd 17", bluray, comes with a nice mouse and a nice bag.

I honestly dont think 1700 dollars is too much for the best laptop on the planet. You'd spend close to that for a desktop with the same specs.

Looking at prices for that in oz now...

Is yours with 1066 or 1333 memory, and the 720/820/920 cpu?

What graphics settings are you using in SH5 and what FPS in various scenarios are u getting?
