area I have managed to sink 2 Carriers both around the plymouth area
my problem is the 5 ships I have sunk 3 along the red line (Northern Patrol) but have not been credited with any ships:damn: it then sent me to just off Iceland where i sunk another ship:D still no credit:nope: they show on my stats on the Captains page but not on the Blockade pop up
Anyone completed this part and have a suggestion it would be appreciated:salute: as i am running out of time to get this one done It ends 1st March and i am at Jan 15 already

They have to be warships from what i understand. You're trying to damage a blockade afterall.

I ALMOST completed this. I got the carrier and sunk 4 armed troop transports (which counted), but couldn't find another warship to sink in time. None of the unarmed merchants i sank in the area counted towards the goal.

The 5 ships you have to sink are 5 auxiliary cruisers. Only those count.

I just checked the museum and you are correct. The ships i sunk must have been the Auxilliary Armed Merchant Cruisers.

They apparently use the same picture in the rec. manual. Must be the same ship, but one has guns.

look for them at the east end of the red arrow, north of england - I found two or three of them there.

The auxillary cruisers are the ones that look like merchants but have a built on deck structure towards the back I'm guessing? Come up as warship contacts on the sonar as well?

I've been sinking those primarily and am about 2/5th's of the way done. It's January, 2 months left but it's a pain trying to find them sometimes lol. Still no luck on the Carrier either. Even infiltrated Scappa Flow and Portland harbors with no luck finding her :(

Some blockade, all the blockade vessels are hiding. I really am not looking forward to this mission from what I have heard. I have had bad experiences infiltrating harbors in this game.

So Auxiliary Armed Merchant Ships count, too? Damn, I better double check the Merchant contacts I spot when they pop up. I sunk two in the area but they didn't count, so I haven't bothered with any Merchant contacts since. Now I know better. I did find and sunk two Troop Transports, which did count, but those seem to be rare...

They'll show up at a Warship contact, not a Merchant.

I ran across one steaming along at 17 knots. Looked like a troop transport but it was armed with deck guns. Took some pot shots at me after I nailed it with 4 torpedos and it was still cruising along at 11 knots.

As for the carrier, I haven't had a whole lot of luck myself. I figured after I did my patrol near Iceland, I'd head south and try to find the carrier. Found and followed a lot of planes flying around in the area and dodged quite a few 3-5 destroyer group task forces. No carrier though.

I'm taking a western approach mission next and figure I'll just look for the carrier then. Regardless of which mission you're on, as long as you get the correct target types in the proper area, you'll receive credit. I sunk 4 or 5 merchants while looking for the carrier, even though I wasn't specifically tasked for hunting in that area. Counted towards the 100,000 limit.

I'm figuring it'll be the easiest to do (which is why I was saving it for last) since this was my prime hunting ground in SH4 with OM installed. Once America declared war, it just got better but it was pretty good even in 39.

do we have to wait until 1 june 1940? until this part of campaign will be finished? because i got them missions done, and i went back to Kiel, and theres nothing going on..so i went for another patrol without specific mission, i tried to load save from before entering port, but that didn't change a thing.

The invasion on Norway will come along soon enough, just continue Hunting. :)

If you click on the mission cross and look at the map you'll see it says to search for the carrier near the Atlantic channel entrance not up near the patrol line. I actually got the carrier while doing the 100k tons missons, now I'm trying to find 5 aux. cruisers. 2 months left.

Here is a spoiler.

Only ships that counts is:

Frigate.
Corvette
Auxiliary crusiers (Armoured merchants)

Its a small bug in the description for this mission that does not tell what to look for. Further on in other missions you wil lget a hint what to look for.

Yup, if you fire up the mission editor you'll see that it calls for Frigates, Corvettes and Aux. Cruisers specifically. There are several mods out for the campaign already (mostly reducing the absurd tonnage requirements), and I've posted a request in one of the threads to edit the strings file for the Blockade of Germany mission to include the valid target types.

Ive updated my mod so it bette reflect what to look for

I can't believe the Nelson does not count towards your goal.:nope:

Seen it twice while going home empty, after wasting time on 2 sunken frigates and an arrmed merchant.

Kinda annoying searched all night and found two auxilary cruisers.

While doing so intercepted two task forces and sunk two battleships. One with a four torp spread, One hit the armory under the forward guns.

The other with my remaining two forward torps. She slowed, listed and sunk 15 minutes later.

I must say all this complaiining about the failures of the damage model have me confused. I've sunk maybe half of my 20 kills via flooding.

So only the small guys count but two battleships won't help the German Cause?

Also what good is this blockade? The Spanish Armada could sail through the damn thing with ease. I spent 15 days sailing the line and those were my only contacts.

GOT'EM ALL !!!!!

Ran into the first two traveling together and just laid for them to cross my bow. BOOM and BOOM.

Two weeks latter about the same spot got another one.
Found one in Scappa Flow, but didn't count. Got one outside Scappa, it did.

The Last one I ran into was heading away at 20 Knots, I had to use my extreme spped of 21 knots to try and play catch up. I had no more shells left so I couldn't shell him to get his attention from 10 km away. So I had to folow him for what seemed like forever. Then it began to rain and I lost him. I dove and picked up a contact, so I proceded to where the contact was, then dove again for another reading. Found him and finaly got a visual though it was hard with the huge swells and down pour. At 3km distance he still hadn't seen me. I only had two torps left, one bow, one stern. I went ahead full and finnaly got around him and began pulling away from him towards the front.
I went to where he was just out of sight, about 1 km now and dove. Quickly turning port to set up my angle on him. I ran to my periscope and to my astonishment when I peered through it, he was right there, perfect shot, no aiming required, no time for orders, LOOSE ! Nailed him at 500 meters.
I figured he must have sped up like a Son of A Gun to cover that distance so quick. He slowed down to a crawl, so I knew he was wounded well. I gave the order to spin a 180 bringing my stern to his now burnning hull. I sank him with my last shot. On Feb.29th, Leap year 1940 ( ? ) and one day before the March 1st deadline Donitz put me on. Got the Knights Cross.

All this ten minutes after I was supposed to be at work!!!!
My boss understands.:D

EDIT: Yes 1940 was a leap year.

Managed to find the 5 aux ships with no trouble. Ark Royal was eluding me pretty well though. I swing south to do some patrols and found her moored in in Plymouth. Moved my way through the destroyer screen and let loose 4 torpedo's on her. All hit just under the main tower and I watched her slowly sink into nothing.

No credit for it on the mission. Refitted and spent another 5 days patroling for another carrier. Nothing :(

Mission cleared out and I made the move to Norway. Only mission that listed as incomplete for me was the Aux cruiser/carrier mission :(

Found a group of 4 aux cruiser some miles W of Scapa Flow, heading at 5 knots straight W. Date was 24th december. Merry Christmas for them :P

Good luck on those still on it...

I went hunting for the two funneled ships and just like our buses i waited for ten ays and two came sailing by bang bang two less and 3 to go.
Another 6 days and along came another 2 bang bang one more to go waited and waited for days nothing i decided to move towards iceland west coast and low and behold there was one scullking down he went.
having already sunk a carrier at the beginning of the game i thought ,Reading the forums that it would be counted towards this part of the campaign. like heck it was had to go looking for another flat top managed to find it around Plymouth only had on eel left so had to make it count. crept in as deep as i could and popped up in between escort and carrier a quick calculation and Torpedo loss The carrier went up as though it was hit by a neuclear bomb and sank like a stone Time to make myself scarce and head for home on way back through English Channel met with 3 large Convoys unescorted argggh nien torpedoes. Just my luck could have had a feild day and finished off chalenge 3 but will settle for what i have and get home to fight another day

Hello there, I got all the Auxiliary Cruisers in Scapa Flow over two patrols, first (around mid november 1939) there were three idling there at night along two battle cruisers (the Queen Elizabeth and -probably- the Nelson), I have to sunk two destroyers patrolling on the left Scapa Flow entrance, then both 31000 tons battle cruisers [was epic :)] then put my remaining torpedoes and deck guns to sunk two among the three AC, seriously damaging the third one. Then on my second patrol I found no less than five AC idling there again at night (around mid-december 1939) along two destroyers and a few merchants, destroyed most of them while keeping four torpedoes, which were put to good use few times later to destruct another Battleship (the Queen Elizabeth again! wtf?!?). Now i have two months left to find that carrier.

The troop transports were pretty easy, just crept around scapa flow, nailed 3 of them, went to refit came back and there was 2 more. The carrier was a bit more interesting, I sailed alllll over the place but kept checking back to see if it was moored in plymouth harbour, I did this 5 or 6 times until finally it was there. I spent a ton of time setting up a nice 4 torpedo spread and BOOOOOM, sank the ark royal right there. I started heading out of the port with the burning wreck of the first one behind me, looked up on the nav map to make sure it counted and NOPE, didn't count, I was really pissed, but it does say you need to sink one PATROLLING. About 500 metres from the mouth of the harbor, there's another ark royal LOL steaming in with it's whole escort group doing 1 knot, nailed it with my last 4 torps and got it that way.

It is January 22, 1940...I have sunk all AMC ships and credited with sinking 100,000 tons of supplies. I just need to find and sink that darn carrier. Anybody have any ideas? Just trolling. :06:

She is set to spawn in Plymouth then patrol the area marked on the map. So you may wanna check time by time if she is not n port.. its nuff to click on the port name and if she is there, it will shown the her name next to the port name.

I completed Total Germany on Feb. 1, 1940. Problem is...I went back to port, ended patrol, and the officer showed me the same orders for Total Germany. I have all of the crosses filled in with the exception of the last one. Will this be filled in when I recieve my new orders and how do I recieve them?:hmmm:

Many thanks Zedi for the information on the carrier. Went to Plymouth looking for the Ark Royal. I found her docked, but lo and behold a Glorius class carrier was coming in. Three shots at varied depths did her in. As an afterthought...do I just go back for a re-fit at said date?:salute:

I decided to try sneaking into Plymouth and having a pop at the Ark Royal. When I was sneaking back out again though, I would get so far, and then the program crashed. I tried this several times, on different days, but it always crashed - strange because it hasn't crashed before. I wonder if anyone else has had the same experience. On the plus side, while I was sitting in the Channel gnashing my teeth, along came HMS Eagle...

Found the Carrier and a troop transporter at Plymouth lying at the dock. Took both out but for some unknown reason i wasn't creditted for either. Do they have to be in motion to get the credit? I've read a few guys on the thread got creditted for sinking a carrier at the dock so now I don't know anymore. Please help!!

The thing I did was wait outside Plymouth for several days, eventually you will find that either a carrier fleet leaves the port heading south or returns. Your sonar should be able to pick up the tell tell signs of a task force from quite a distance.

Be patient. Note that the lack of depth means DD's are going to be on top of you and hitting you hard. Give yourself some distance to target 4000-5000 metres.

In my case I spotted one carrier fleet with my hydrophone heading due north, destination Plymouth. I set about lining up my shots - distance approx 4000 meters from the target and fired, missed all four, arghhh:down: .

Spent the next hour trying to evade escorts, depth charged all the way. As I finally manage to evade the escorts my sonar guy detects another task force heading south, looks like it left Plymouth, raised periscope. Yippe!!! I got myself another carrier. I lined my sub once again - 4200 metres, did the maths, calculated AOB, triple checked results, crossed my fingers and fire all torpedos. Lowered periscope and tried to high tail it out of there. Few minuter later - Boom _ torpedo impact. 1 hit 3 misses. Well something is something and at least the escorts have not zeroed in on my position. Up periscope - Shes on fire doing about 1 knot - she's in real trouble. 1 hour later she sinks :arrgh!:. Mission completed back to base to lick my wounds.

Ok Cool. I guess that they have to be moving / active to be creditted for a kill. Will wait outside the doc to get a kill. Cheers mate

Good hunting, just remember that you don't have to sink any in order to finish the campaign. The end date for this campaign is 1 June 1040. I you reached this date the game will automatically take you to the campaign end screen with a summary of your actions even if you're in mid patrol. Also remember that the Wesenlbung Campaign (not sure of the spelling) can be activated between March-April 1940, this will be the start of battle for Norway. Go to the mission giver, request mission, and click at on the tab with the mission name.
