So i started the patrol with a mission to enter Plymouth to search for some ships that I can sink.

First I saw a small convoy protected by one destroyer So I decided to sink the destroyer first. But every torpedo I fired at him went under him. As he was above water. I lost 7 torpedoes in this attack... 1 one of them hit a merchant. Maybe they should fit airplane propeler on the torpedoes instead of ship propeler.

But what a shock!!! One of the destroyers drop some depth charges somewhere in the area!!!

Because I was out of torpedoes I went back home...

Then I went to port and refitted so I could continue my patrol. I found a large convoy and some destroyers. Because it was boring I started to attack the destroyers and eventually they started following me.

Fuhrer, our U-boats have sunk a total of 1200000000 tons of merchant shipping, 5420 capitol ships, and 500 troop transports fully laden with in the year... however it has had no effect on the war.

Considering they don't have the same "lock on" ability as in SH5 where they mindlessly follow you at a constant distance (rather than actually attempt to look for you) yes I am. And it must have been patched because I haven't run across it in SH4 v1.5

I get the enemy ship "shadowing" me every patrol, matches course and speed but usually just 1 destroyer. You can't get close to it, so I always make them crash into land. Had it happen 4 times while patrolling off Norway I think. Minutes after I had run one aground, another took its place. Really annoying, as is the magical people underwater.

If the game is untouched by hackers, then missions will not solve that behavior. I'm just hears many rumors that cracked game have some glitches, similar to this one...

Just where are these troop transports heading to in the north sea 1 week after war broke out?

By the course mine were heading the likely target was either somewhere in the Baltic or Norway, either way the Tommy's sure mobilized fast!

Funny shots if it wasnt so sad, really. Who was it from UBI who said they werent satisfied with SH5 when released... Well that is the understatement of the year!

Oh well, Im a patient man, I can wait another year, plenty of other games to enjoy.

Another day another patrol...

So I decided I will go to Plymouth. When I was in canal I encountered a convoy with one DD protecting it. So I sunk the DD (he was actually trying to avoid my torpedo :o ). So only merchants left. Easy job... ?
I sunk some with torpedoes then went to surface to use cannon. But they got a few lucky hits and destroyed my engines...

There was a merchant left so I went upstairs to take it out. So what to do now. No engines. And my sub in on surface. Some time later an airplane showed up, but it didn`t attack me... after the airplane I got report of smoke on horizon. So I got to periscope level. And guess what, they send carrier my way. Escorted with some destroyers.

I finally found and sank the Ark Royal last night while she was docked. Took 4 torpedo's before she finally went under.

Regarding the one torpedo thing, perhaps it's meant to emulate the real life sinking of the HMS Ark Royal? IE the design flaws and such that were revealed in that carrier when she was hit?

Yes, it´s a behaviour that a lot of people seen in the game. you can sunk entire destroyers groups making them run agroun everywere :haha:

The planes is new ,swarms of letal planes than can wipe out a lot of merchants. ????

Now i know why the war end in 1943, the Ia is so dumb and the luftwaffe so strong that allies can survive past 1943 :har:

I was patrolling west from English channel when I Bdu asked me to confirm some intel about carrier stationed in Plymouth naval base.
Due to bad weather I arrived near Plymouth some time after sunrise, continued towards the port in periscope depth. All went nice until 15 minutes after 10 I got an A class destroyer on my tail. Decided to take her out and try to sneak to the port while other patrol boats come to investigate. Shot her dead on from about 400 m, she went down with a single torpedo. Dived to 50 m depth and tried to sneak away at dead slow speed. About 15 minutes later the place was crawling with escorts, over 15 sound contacts. And then sonar guy announces "I've something big". Decided to take the risk and rose to periscope depth and 300 m to the port of me sails 48 t "Ark Royal Fleet Carrier".

So I shoot 2 torpedoes at her and do a quick sweep of the surrounding and discover the reason of so many contacts. We have Ark Royal and 4 escorts heading to Plymouth and another carrier whit 8 escorts leaving the harbor. Plus the usual patrols around the harbor.
I'm all stop and at 20 m depth, waiting for results. Both torpedoes hit, some secondary explosions but not enough to sink her. So I rise again and fire another torpedo at her. A hit. Series of secondary explosions, soon after she sinks.

So I go to 20 meters and start to sneak away. Had a destroyer close on my tail. Rose to periscope depth and took her out with aft torpedo, before she could attack me.
Second carrier's group starts evasive maneuvers after my attack.

Suddenly I see an oportunity to intercept them as they start returning to course. I didn't dare to try my luck again to get to point blank range this time, so I fired my last 2 torpedoes from 1,2 km away (was having trouble targeting the carrier, somehow the game always locked on to a destroyer behind the carrier). Both hit, and burning, down she goes.

Got awarded the German Cross and also got type VIIC boat under my command.
