Just started a career with this game. A couple of questions.
1st mission, sink 50,000 tons along east coast of Britain. No way can I sink that much with this number of torpedoes. Do you guys refit at Wilhelmshaven and go back or do you go all the way back to Keil and end patrol. Would I gain points for the crew if I go either place?
2. I have not seen this posted. I have a continuous ticking when I turn TC up past 4x. It is similar to the clock but it is not the chronometer. Have you experienced this? How to kill it?
.......Driving me crazy. lol
Refitting in nearest friendly port is the way to go
I have the ticking too but i don't care about it :p

Howdy Rick C! :salute: long time no see.
With the stock game those 11 torps evaporate quickly, don't they?
I just DL "Mad Max's" AOTD RDA mod with more powerful torpedoes...we'll see how that goes. Got to brush up on my German, though. :yep:
Cheers,
You can end the patrol before the campaign mission is complete. It's an over arching goal to complete within a time period instead of a patrol goal.

No need to refit! I'm ashamed to say that I completed that mission in 1 Patrol. I visited the British harbors in that area and let loose with torpedoes and the 88.
I figure if Gunther Prien could be that dodgy...why can't I?
I personally never refit but always end a patrol in port. The refitting option strikes me as a bit gamey since it's a lot faster than ending a patrol and setting out again. My tonnage is still quickly approaching 1 mio tons in early '41....

i had to refit once on the first mission. i finished it and i wasnt told to go back to port, but to travel somewhere else......that i cant see on the map, im assuming that because the mission icon hasnt vanished im to patrol the same area of the north sea????? all i can do at port is refit, i cant click on the "dock" icon :S

Thanks for the reply guys.
@Don. Great to see you old friend!!
I really don't want to uber up the torpedoes because they seem reasonable stock. 2-3 torps to sink a freighter seems right. I think I'll just revisit the patrol areas untill I meet the patrol requirements.
I'd rather see mission objectives that are possible to complete in one patrol.

Yea you will just get the same mission over again.

If I'm not mistaken the "ticking" noise is actually when you reach a waypoint set on your navigation map. It get's real annoying when you're going through Kiel lol.
As far as dock vs. refit... Well I refit. After reading about some of the 150+ day patrols some of the real U-Boat commanders had I figured going out for a month then spending time in dock was just about as unrealistic as the refit times lol

I think you'll find that those extra long patrols were done in Type IXs. I also hope that the crew management makes it more difficult the longer you stay out. Stopping at a friendly base to resupply and staying out for four months or more was a very rare thing.

No, I'm not talking about that click sound when you hit a waypoint.
I have something else going on. It's like the clock ticking but much faster. It did not start until midway through the pirst patrol.
Corrupt save maybe? I don't know.
I catch this problem solved on another forum. What you need is to unlock target after atack ,before you run in to TC :)

I got a constant ticking..it was very annoying when on TC...found out that it may have been a torp that was "hanging" it had been fired and missed a target...and just stopped a few clicks after the intended target.. very strange.
Tried everything Clock on/off..restarted, luckily I had just saved prior to the encounter. Everything was ok again
