Just did a good patrol. Found a task force surrounding a battle ship so I thought I would go for the meat.
It was extremely stormy weather so getting close wasn't a problem. I managed to get in position for the kill and dove to PD. With a perfect 90 deg angle on the bow I sent 4 fish swimming toward the target. 3 stuck the target and I went down as fast as possible considering there were a dozen destroyer's protecting this target in a circular fashion.
At first I thought that the AI DD were lame but then I realized they were homing in on me. I laid a course out and ahead of the original group, and the depth charges were dropped but I was below them.
I went to silent running and called for a depth of 125 from my original 150 but it was not responding. Cursing the dev's I soon realized that they had actually improved the physics of the submarine in the game. You can no longer just go silent at slow speed and keep your depth. Speed is important now...really nice feature! As far as the respnce time goes it is really slow to respoding to depth correction and this is so cool. It feels so much more realistic now.
So after some time I went back to the original target to finish the kill. When I put her under the DD came running back and I had to scramble again.
This was a fun night on patrol. I like the balance the AI DD has now, they no longer have laser vision or super sonar. They don't hover over you as if they have a diver flag above water saying....down here!. The surface vision or contact is so much more realistic now as far as range.
