recall how in SH4 we'd start a campaign in the office and youd have to go in and customize your realism settings for that campaign? ie. manual TDC ect...

even though i have my realism settings set up to my liking in the SH5 main menu screen, i started a career on 'medium' and cant figure out what realism settings im operating under... my own, or those applied generically because i set it to medium difficulty?

i ask because to be honest, i cant tell which TDC it has me using?!

I cycled the deck gun path on and off and resumed the campaign and it made no difference...

im getting the feeling that we are 'locked' to the realism settings associated with the predefined difficulty level?

if this is true, does anyone know how to change it? maybe a config file somewhere?

also i wonder if there is an explanation of which difficulty setting is associated to what realism settings... argh...

i noticed this too, when doing the realism in the UI it changes it to Custom when you start clicking on it, but when you goto start the campaign "Custom" isn't an option, just the 4 standard.

I also notice after i start a campaign and then go back into the UI realism setting my Custom is replaced with what i selecteda t teh campaign.

i ended up just selected the one that was closest to my liking (High).

I'm guessing its unfinished and they meant for "custom" to be an option in the campaign start but just didn't make it there.

i'll be though there is a setting file that you can edit and just take the "High" or what ever and edit it to be your Custom settings.

Just press ESC when you're in the subpen before your next mission and set your Realism options from there. No need to edit save files or anything crazy.

Found this out last night. Finally can set my realism options.
Messing around with the Config files doesn't work, btw. I've tried it. The game automatically re-sets them when you load a saved game.

Good Evening, Comrades!:()1:
I am very happy and thankful to see that there's a bunch of people just as interersted ( or even more) in naval/submarine-based simulation games and they managed to create such a great forum where people can discuss different issues linked with the Silent Hunter game sequels.

Though I am a player very fond of such kind of games and this sequel I find that SH5 sux A55 :damn: (mildy speaking)

Two of my biggest problems are Deck Gun control: How the frack I order those guys after engaging and shooting at a target with the deck gun to stop(to cease fire) no matter that the target is still "alive"
Is that solution the best up to date: http://www.mediafire.com/?oi4tmejzioi
(BTW I downloaded the file (rar) and extracted it into the "data" folder of my game directory is that the correct way of installation of this "patch"???)

Second biggest problem is how do I play on custom difficulty without some fancy tricks that I apply everytime, I just want to fix it once.I see that you are talking about that problem here but I understand how exactly to fix it permantly.
I am a great noob so please explain to me in details.
TNX!!!

I run SH5 v1.1.5 on Windows 7 Pro x64
