Does anybody have a rough idea the next patch will come out?

I hate to break it to you, but there might not be another Patch.

Do I sense negative vibes here?

:hmmm:

I'm pretty sure we will see patches fixing the most serious problems soon. I'm as cynical as your next-door uboat skipper, but even I don't believe that the devs/ubi would let the customers down THAT much.

Well they need to address at the very least the morale issue.

As to when... .SOON !

What makes you say that? There is absolutly no reason to think there wont at least be one last patch.

I hope you are wrong. :o

Ubi usually releases 3-4 patches before they are done.

I'm trying to remember the last time you could get a refund on opened software.

I wouldn't worry, in both SH3 and SH4, ubi's coughed up 4 patchs before they abandoned it on the street. I wouldn't expect any different here.

Depends how well the game sells.

Weren't you the one that kept persuading folks here that this is going to be the best sim ever, we should buy it in order to allow Ubi produce SH6?

This game will be patched no doubt. It seems like even addons were discussed at some point in time, this is from the campaign menu scripts:

##Removed SubmarineTypes (it will be added in the addon)
#DescriptionText += "<title>Submarine Types</title>|"
# add required sub types for this campaign
#for sub in self.CampaignData.RequiredSubTypes:
# for pic in SubmarineTypesTextureMap:
# if pic[0] == sub:
# DescriptionText += pic[1]

There are references to stuff like this in the code, they either didn't have time to put int TypeII and IX or decided to give them a through job in an addon. Of course they have to fix lots of things in the game engine first....

Of course that "addon" will cost us money to play... that is as long as we are online we can.

There was a post at the forum at ubisoft, a guy pasted a response to his email. According to that there was supposed to be a patch out next week, fridag at the latest. Considering that it was last week it means a patch will be released in the coming days.

But the official channels are dead...is this normal?

seriously i think that this game will need the equivalent of eight sh3 patches to ride off all bugs.

Too many bugs !!! http://pcmedia.gamespy.com/pc/image/article/675/675889/starship-troopers-20051215102825770-000.jpg

As much as I want the next patch I think it will take a MASSIVE amount of work to add all of the missing features and fix the ton o' Bugs presently.

I'm afraid it will take many patches too properly address this one. :damn:

I think it highly likely there will be some DLC for the reasons mention by piri_reis and because of the missing years in the campaign. Therefore I think it highly likely we'll see a patch or two which will, probably, fix any serious bugs.

Patches will fix some bugs but the list is horifying long. AI and ship behavior, Graphics such as crew staying on the brigde while diving, the guys in the ship which are animated strangely appearing/disappearing like ghost, also through objects (beds & torpedo). Torpedo that disappear while loading. Absurd usage of system resources, crew that doesnot response under attack or when events happen etc, etc. If they release a mod friday they will only address a few bugs and after three patches Ubi will show its middle finger to its customer.

Unfortunately....

I couldn't agree more.

Especially based on UBI's track record of the previous two titles.

There were still some series bugs that couldn't be modded that are present long after UBI allowed the last patch released.

What if they show there A.S.S?

Try manually running the updater in the "support" folder. Worked for me.
