View Full Version : Puzzled and Concerned re AI behaviour

I have been undertaking the campaign mission to attack coastal shipping on E. coast of Britain.(Difficulty level between medium and low)
I encountered many destroyers but never moved into visual or sensor range of any of these.
What concerns me re the acceptability of the enemy AI is that one destroyer also without ever moving into any visual ,hydrophone or sonar range of the U-boat , from then on shadowed at distance my every course change. I purposely checked on my suspicions by moving directly from East to West and North to South etc and this destroyer precisely and immediately reflected every course change I made and shadowed me for as long as I sailed in that direction--but always well beyond any visual or sensor range of the DD.
This behavior certainly was not based on any contact of my presence nor could such a long series of reflections of very unusual navigational changes by me possibly be coincidence or chance.
It really shook my sense of immersiveness and took my sense of belief in the AI validity away and I left the game to check whether anyone else has noticed such strange and indeed suspicious AI destroyer behaviour.
I really hope there is a convincing explanation for such AI because at the moment I feel very unhappy with what I have observed and am lacking motivation to carry on with the campaign.
Thanks for any comments and insights.

Thanks Robbo--sorry to hear about your banishment to Burgess Hill though I trust you often return to visit the highlife in the S.Coast Metropolis. What indeed was your crime which merited this horrific exile punishment?
Your reference to the other thread was very helpful--many thanks --all reflecting my irritating experience. Comforting not to be alone on this one -----but an issue I hope the devs will do something about soon as it is a real immersion-breaker.
All best in BH and try to keep cheerful.........

Hehe my crime was not being able to afford the rent in Brighton.

Actually it's not too bad out here - pedestrians look before crossing the road, cyclists stop at red lights and most drivers seem to know where they are headed. That said you guys aren't too far away if I find myself in need of a party:D
