Okai, almost all i read here now is complaining about the game and DRM. Its like yu already decided that this sucks big time. Thats really sad, because I see it as a good platform that need some tuning (better days are coming). And for any reason, have yu ever thought why they decided to use DRM?! Try look at it from their (UBI) side. In the end i think the one to blame for this is ourselves....

Yikes! Really? We're to blame for poorly conceived and badly executed DRM?

Honestly, that thought never crossed my mind.

I didn't just "already decide", i tried it before i really decided. I did give it a chance. Hell, i even started to mod for it. Even after i swore up and down that i wouldn't.

I agree with you, which makes me all that much more angry and bitter about the BS DRM. Let me put it this way: I love the PTO and fleet boats. Fleet boats are what got me into sub sims to begin with, To top that off, ive off and on, spent the last few years working on SH4. I have A LOT of time, and effort invested into improving it; More then many here will ever know. And yet, i'd rather play SH5.

Ubisoft has taken a bunch of statistics, and warped them around to justify themselves. If 95% of PC games (or their games, whichever their case was), was pirated, that means 9 out of 10 users here is running warez. That is amazingly, and stunningly, full of schitt. Personally, i have never D/L a cracked program, and i resent being made to suffer for schitt i didn't have anything to do with. There are better alternatives to Ubisofts approach (see Bioware or steam), but Ubi is too much of a jackass to see past itself. Instead, they treat EVERYONE like a criminal.

Why? Because the community expected to be able to use something they paid for?

First of all, i didnt say any names or pointed any fingers, i was just "thinking out loud". Trying to think why... We all have different meanings how to deal with piracy, all i say is give it a break. Its nothing wrong in going outside the box.
And in some situations i think the whining is going beyond limits...If some of yu felt affended i am sorry.
Just sharing some thoughts, if its a problem let me know and i keep shut the next time.

when you say the community than I assume you are speaking for me as well, correct?

If so than please stop.
A week of solid game play and no connection issues for myself. I have very much enjoyed the gameplay as well.

So far I havent had any issue's with the DRM and not being able to play, though clearly many have.

I agree the game has a lot of potential, it looks stunning and I can live with the bugs knowing they will be fixed eventually.. (assuming the sales warrant spending more dev time... that could be a problem).

But what has me more concerned is that people like Ducimus, who produced great mods for SH4 are giving up. This means one less modder for SH5, which means its playing life might be shortened.

I played SH3 & 4 for a few days each untill downloading the super mods. If it wasnt for these mods I wouldnt still be playing and I probably wouldn't have bought SH5 as an investment for the future.

The sentiments Im seeing here by some of the long time members and modders is what really has me worried.

I can live with DRM (even if I dont like it), they will get it sorted. I can live with an unfinished/buggy game, they will fix it. What i cant live with is SH5 without a major mod...:lost:

:sign_yeah::agree:

having a great time here as well, nice little game, nice improvements over SH3 and 4.

have had no connection/drm/log in issues whatsoever in 10 days of playing.

a few technical issues, but no game killers.

Still playing the single missions and haven't even tried the campaign yet.

I am one satisfied customer...:arrgh!:

back to the Atlantic...

Good for you, you're one of the lucky few. However the 200+ post threads about problems makes it pretty clear enough of "the community" is having problems to the point where we can say "we" without having to consult "you".

hardly think the same 20 posters posting the same things over and over and over again represents the community...
