Ok well I got the connection failure fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling SH5 as per the tech support's adivse saying that the system restore I did this morning played havoc with the registry.
But now after the game launches and connects to the server and then I skip the intro I get a dialog saying "Cannot initialize 3D engine" and an ok button in the box though I cant click on it as I have to mouse pointer at that point. So I just hit "enter" key and the game closes.
Any ideas, or anyone run into this? Yes i tried restarting my computer, but still does this. Will prbably have call support again with this, but I thought I'd ask here first.

Whats your machine specs? and what operating system do you use?

Well I got it all sorted now. I got the 196.21 drivers back now, and the card is working again. Just why it reverted to the onboard chip before im not really sure, but now after rolling back the driver to the 196.21 one, another system restart, the card came back on this time.
Hehe, then the connection failure wsa again coming up on stating the game. Then after some more head scratching and checking in devise manager I found the ethernet adapter was on the fritz and not working now. So restarted the sytem again and now its okay. but dont ask me why it is, or why it ever stopped working.
All i do know is that this all started this morning when I installed those older video drivers, and then did the system restore. I think what I should have done is not do the system restore, but rather should have just rolled back the video drivers alone and then the SH5 registry problem might never have occured.
But anyway I just tested SH5 and it started up, connected, syncronized and all is well again.
And never again will I follow the advice of someone with only 21 posts to his name, and I should have looked at that first, and simply left my system as it was...............working fine.:yep:
But thanks so much for your input jwilliams, much appreciated.
