40 years ago, the very first wargame I ever bought was an Avalon Hill game about the hunt for the Bismarck which my brother and I played for months. I have read and analysed for years the death of that battleship.
I never played that mission in SH3, but fired it up tonight initially to test the accuracy of the stadimeter.
But as soon as I saw that ship on the last day of her life and that of her 2,000 crewmen, I felt a pang in my chest and for a brief moment felt like I was back on that day in 1941...

yes, that's it. good find, sure brings back the memories.
It's amazing how far sims have evolved since then.
I also found my first sub sim, spent many hours on that baby:

This was my first baby, 7 years old playing at the brand new Amiga 500.

Seems only as yesterday! Graphics sucked but gameplay rocked!

First Sub-Sim was Silent Service for the NES. That got me majorly involved in Sub Sims. Heck Only thing that will ever pass a Sub Sim for me is a WWI Flight Sim.

My first was Silent Steel. I only made it to the 4th disk once and was blown up after getting there. Always ended up destroying the world or dieing.
My first subsim was also Silent Service except on the Commodore 64.
Man at the time I thought the visuals were so stunning and realistic.
Need to find an emulator and search that game out.

haha so cool. Everything back then was so new and exciting and only worked 50% of the time.
My first subsim was also Silent Service except on the Commodore 64.
