As I read that article, my inner skeptic is stifling laughter. So, the French surrendered to a pistol shot then? :rotfl2::har:
Funny if it's fiction, even funnier if it's true. :D
What's your take?
fact or fiction ?
fiction
Of course it's fact! Same as flying cows and Santa Claus and Easter Bunny.
Come on. :shifty:
US Navy Commander Martin Lewandowski, of Portland Maine, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, commented,

Would this be the same French navy that captured 35 pirates today?

And would this be the same French Destroyer Ouragan which was decommissioned in 1949?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_destroyer_Ouragan
Or is it the retired Amphibious Warfare ship Ouragan?

Ah, yeah, then there's that too :har:
Bio of the author of the piece:
@rev_rend Reverend Mike is a contributing editor for Glossy News. He was a Combat Chaplain with the Soviet Red Army in the 1980s. A career which he describes as an 'unappreciated field of endeavor'. He later worked as an Information Officer with the TASS News Agency on assignment in White Sands, NM. The collapse of the Soviet Union left him unemployed and homeless. He survived by selling magazine subscriptions door to door disguised as a college coed. He was later kidnapped and taken to Shanghai where he was sold into a white slavery ring. He lived as a concubine for a Japanese music industry mogul until 2002 when a wardrobe malfunction revealed his true identity. He found himself homeless and unemployed again, with only his collection of Polaroid snap shots. Reverend Mike has since scraped together a meagre living by blackmailing Japanese industrialists. Reverend Mike lives in a small 5 bedroom penthouse flat overlooking Central Park in New York City. His hobbies include exotic motorcycles, supermodels and owning small nations....

Another clue to the fiction is the author served as a "Combat Chaplain in the Red Army during the 80's".
Why would the godless Soviet Army need chaplains?

Wtf, did someone actually take the article as a fact? :haha:
Taking 0.5 secs to look at the other articles on the site should be a pretty strong clue...

I know I've posted this before but this thread has inspired me to repost one of my favourite jokes :DL
An elderly British gentleman of 83 arrived in Paris by plane.
At the French immigration desk, the man took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry-on bag.
"You have been to France before, Monsieur?" the Immigration officer asked, sarcastically.
The elderly gentleman admitted he had been to France previously.
"Then you should know well enough to have your passport ready."
The British gentleman says, "The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it."
"Impossible. The British always have to show their passports on arrival in France!"
The elderly gentleman gave the French Immigration Officer a long hard look.
Then he quietly explained;
"Well, the last time I was here, I came ashore on Juno Beach on D-Day in June 1944, and I couldn't find any fu*king Frenchmen to show it to."

Um, sorry, I'm British. I only live in Scotland. Not that that matters, since your reply doesn't even make sense.
You can ponder that - along with Sgt Joe Subic decorating the US embassy with Iranian flags, Ladell Maples USMC weeping as he declared his gratitude to the Ayatollah - while considering that the cowardly French Navy saved the rebel colonies in the Wars of Independence. Then you can dynamite the froggy Statue of Liberty, and clam up.
