I like the simulation of the captain, but it would require a bit more interaction in the crew to feel it actualy and not feel like a camera roaming trough the interior. I would like to see my crew saluting me or saying kaleun on the bridge - that would greatly add to the immersion imho. What do you think?

Yes, that would be great.

It seems that atleast some of the crew glances at you when you get close enough, maybe it would be possible to add sound playing when that happens. Just a simple "Kaleun" would be enough for me. :hmmm:

Yeah, like in the intro movie. It's supposed to be all about being a captain, but nobody seems to know your there, unless you punch them in the shoulder and ask them about their homelife.:)

on german submarines is and was no saluting of higher ranks, otherwise the crew could simply bond thier hands to the head or ?

I agree, no saluting, but just simple nod and "Kaleun" as a greeting when the kaleun passes them would be nice.

Well, you are not there. you are thin air. Unlike in other games where you actually are a character with hands and feet your'e just air in this game. You don't even cast a shadow :)
In short, You are just the camera in this game.

personally, i think this interacton issue is overrated; primarily cos there will never be the right amount of variables simulated. its just too intensive to try to have a conversation with a crew member and as such i think its a mistake to try. as i mentioned in another post, i think the priorities should be different.
re the crew, they should be scripted to acknowledge you by referring to you as kaleun or sir. they should simply say yes sir or at least look at you or move aside for you- thats it. the crew should be represented by ambient noise and their own mess deck ramblings with simple animations.

instead, computing efforts should be concentrated on what they do. we should be striving for watching simple animations of crew responding to battlestations, alarms, watch swaps in the control room, damage teams, flak teams, entry/exit port deck parades, playing cards in their bumnks etc etc.

in this respect the crew fill out the machine, not provide a soap opera.

Totally agree with Thruster. Anything more in a game like this is a novelty at best - interesting the first and maybe the second time through if done really well - but otherwise a waste of time that should be spent on missing and undercooked sim elements.

PS, is the DRM gone yet?
