View Full Version : installation question
I recently bought the U-boat add on. Right now I have SHIV working to my satisfaction with the mods and sounds that I like. If I install the U-boat mod will it mess up my sounds and mods? Mods include re-mapping some keys, and installing the protractor to the map, nothing major. If it does something that I dont like can I install it and revert back to my previous configuration automatically? I was thinking about creating a separate install for SHIV just to see how I like the u-boat addition. I understand that there are some upgrades to the US part of the sim as well. Thanks,Joe S

I installed UBM straight over the top of SH4, with mods enabled via JSGME, no issues here :salute:

By 'The U-Boat Mod' do you mean Operation Monsun? It can be loaded together with RFB and RSRD, but that is not really necessary.
If you plan on playing both consistently a dual install is a good idea. Unfortunately they didn't include the German/English option that came with SH3, so unless you want to keep the English voices in your u-boat you'll need one of the available soundpacks.
I just noticed that what I have is SHIV "GOLD" edition which includes the u-Boat add on. I assume that if I install this it will overwrite my sounds and mods? If I back up my config and sound file, then install the new game, can I get my sounds and mods back by loading the backed up sound and config folders ? Thanks, JOe S
