Recon mission

Hi :) Im Currently on the mission where i need to recon narvik naval base, but i seem to not being able to get it completed:( tried to first just head for the mark on the map, hung there for about 2x24hours, then i took a trip trough the naval base, nothing happend either, so i feel kinda stranded and would like to hear if anyone of u know how on earth i get it completed?:S my "drop sp off near liverpool" did work fine btw.

Did you tried to IDENTIFY with the periscope the ships on that harbour?

I have not arried to that mission yet but Identifying ships is usually a good way to determine you have completed a recon mission

I have this same mission. I searched the forum, and everyone just says "I haven't played SH V yet but try finding a photograph button." If there is one, I haven't found it.

I also heard the suggestion to try and ID ships in the harbor. The problem? The harbor I am supposed to recon is empty!:damn:

You have to lock your periscope on a ship in the harbor. When the periscope is locked on the target you will get an option to photograph the ship (a button next to the lock button in the middle of the periscope).
The harbor itself seem to have no ships at all but there was two escorts patrolling the surroundings that did the job for me.

Hello Oskar,

Are you running any UI mods? There are no buttons in the middle of the periscope, except for the picture of the XO. If you have a screenshot, I would appreciate it.

That being said, there aren't any ships patrolling anyway. I saw a British merchant coming into the harbor area eventually but I couldn't take his picture so I just sank him.

The button appears next to the "Lock" button when you have locked on to the ship. But if theres no ships next to harbor then I dont have a solution. The two escorts that I saw on my mission had a pretty long patrol range (further in to the fjord) and were traweling whit a speed of 5 knots so my sonar guy didnt pick up any sound while submerged.

I'm sorry I dont have any sceenie for you and I think I dont have any save games left from that "time".

If you find a ship near port and lock on to it it should be pretty clear what I mean.

By chance, what date did you attempt to do the mission on? It is March (before the April 4 invasion) in my game.

I think the date was something like 1 of April. Because then i sank 5 ships in a lagre convoy outside of narvik and I remember that right after that there was a indication on the map that a taskforce should be active from Scapa Flow to Narvik the 8 of april.

Btw it was Battleship Queen Elizabeth and with 3 torps down did she go :woot:

For some reason it didnt count as a battleship sunk in the mission goals :06:

Now I have to go off to work, hope youll figure it out
