View Full Version : Argggghhhhhhhhh!
Bought SHV even though I didn't like the DRM. I thought said DRM would at least be transparent.
However, right now I can't play :(
I get the following when I attempt to continue my campaign:

I guess all I can do now is wait :( There is nothing wrong with my internet, hence this post.
I think I will now stay away from Ubisoft games. Can't believe it, can't play my own game - bet the pirating *fu*ks* can though :damn:

Send a torpedo to UBI's HQ and dive asap. :D
Alas, it is not the ISP, as I can still get on the internet and play other online games. As for the firewall, my settings have not changed. This was all working this morning :(

This is exactly the kind of thing which keeps me from buying the game. No connection is ever perfect, at least not in Europe, so obviously this screen would be seen frequently.
Really, Ubi should refund their customers a percentage of the game's RRP every time they cannot access their game, much like energy companies when your electric goes out.
I'm fine with them wanting to protect their software, but do they have to do it in such a damned inconvenient way?
Same message for me today, played w/o any problems for last 2 days...
This is why I am not buying the game. There is nothing wrong with my internet connection infact I have high speed broadband but I will not be treated as a thief by Ubisoft and restricted by their DRM.
They will not be telling me when and when i can't play my game.

I've had the same issue today. It happens on my machine after the PC goes into "sleep" mode with the game paused in the background. A PC restart fixes this. :salute:
Hope that helps

I've also got exactly the same message a couple of times now, usually works after 20-30min again. But i also noticed that my savegames are gone? Well, not gone. But the 6 hours i put in the game today are gone. Only the saves from yesterday left? Even though i saved alot of times during the day today. Wierd!

This is exactly what I got. I eventually got into the game after about 1hr and found that my latest save was gone :(
I'm begining to dislike this DRM...

Same thing here, first time I've been shafted by this DRM. Let me tell you, I'm a whole lot less than happy. :damn:
I'm never buying another game that has this form of DRM. Great way to screw your customers guys.

It's a problem on UbiSoft's end. Lots of people are getting this today. It was inevitable that this kind of thing would happen with UbiSoft's DRM. Their servers break and YOU can't play the game you paid for.
Of course they haven't acknowledged any problems yet.

I got the same message, here's what to do;:salute:
You must after install and or before running online: CLEAN your cookies and Temp. Internet files before running the game because like some websites with passwords; (read:Ebay) won't log you in sometimes because a cookie is hanging for the password.
Clean junkfiles and reg. files and temp.files.
I do this every day no matter what, but after the install of SH5 I just went directly to play and got this message with "problems with internet" and after I did the clean everything started just fine.:up:

With the time this message could be more frequent for users because more and more people bought the game and the servers can become overloaded. except for non legitimate users :hmmm:
And more if there are a lot of load savegames, campaigns....

I sure hope this clears up soon for anyone having this problem. And I don't want to upset anyone. Still, I can't stop myself...
AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA! :har:
That's not meant to antagonize, just my giddiness that I didn't purchase (yet). Still, sorry, I do humbly apologise for that outburst.

Server melt down took a little longer than I expected.
Saw a post around here about a work around. Something about clearing cookies.

After reading all the posts in this thread it appears that Ubisoft has some important issues that need to be fixed fast. If this keeps up and people also lose their saves, I blame nobody that takes countermeasures to preserve their sanity, ie. "ICBM" toward their server.

Yes, well I'm sure quite a few of us are feel the same way. I'm glad I didn't pre-order the damned thing, seems like the headache I have at the moment would be much, much worse. As I've said before, without their DRM I would have bought the game in a flash, now I will end up spending my money elsewhere until this mess is resolved.
Without the DRM, and bugs aside, this game could be a real gem. Sadly, it's worthy only of the bargain bin at best, unless they do something to rectify the current situation. They can start by removing the 24/7 net requirement. Hell, I don't mind registering the game, but this requirement for a single-player game is simply ridiculous. I'm sure many will agree with this sentiment.
But there's always hope I suppose. After all, ROF removed their net requirement, after the community screamed long and loud. Perhaps if we record all the SS members screaming in shear frustration, then mail it to Ubi, they will remove their OSP as well!

:o How is clearing files from a web browser I don't use going to help the stability of a remote game server? I mean, it's good general advice, but I can't see it having anything to do with OSP. More likely UbiSoft finally fixed their problem around the time you cleared your files.

hacker groups had announced that they would dos-attack the Ubi-Servers over the weekend. Perhaps that's the reason why sometimes the servers closed the connections :hmmm:
Kinda what I was thinking, there pissed because they cant play for free.

Heh, that or they just don't like Ubi. While I couldn't agree with them on anything else, that at least we would have in common!

I'm sure its more about Assassins Creed then SH5. Bunch of script kiddies trying to prove a point.

Possibly, though I've no idea why everyone's so obsessed with AC; aside from some novelties, it doesn't really seem worth the effort. Then again, small minds I suppose.

So did I, but I also mentioned that this pesky online thing can be fixed for those having problem with it. Seconds later my account was deleted. Overreacting much? Especially considering I was a long time supporter of both subsim and Neal, and I also BOUGHT the game.
Be careful what you say around here, even if you think you are helping out. Things are not what they used to be :hmmm:
