View Full Version : Performance and mouse sensitivity seems to change(!)

I played SHV this morning and coming out of Kiel I thought this is pretty good - the game is running very smoothly. Come lunch time, I have continue the same game (still in Kiel) and the frame rate is very unsteady.

Why is my performance changing? I haven't played with the settings.

In addition the mouse sensitivity seems to change too. It varies from very good, to needing to move the mouse 10 metres to get my bloke to turn 1 degree...

Something is wrong here. I could understand if the game always ran poorly, but mine seems to vary, even in the same scenario!

Plus, the mouse control really needs looking at. When its running 'normally' it is fine, but when its running poorly as currently, the game becomes almost impossible to control.

Anyone else getting this?

I was having problems with mouse response in certain cases and they went away when I turned down the shadows (this on a ATI 5870), so I assume the slow mouse response was caused by FPS problems from shadows not being optimized.

Adding my system config in case it helps, my PC handles most other games like butter, just the shadows seem to be a problem in SH5:

Also having trouble with severe mouse lag. I've been running FRAPS and noticed that the frame rate is as bad as 15fps inside the boat, while running up to 150+fps outside.

Is this a sudden change?

Was there a patch rolled out?

Running any mods?

Admittedly my card (8600M GT) isn't the best, but I only play at 1280x800. Modern Warfare 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Bad Company 2, Bioshock 2, Empire: Total War, Dragon Age: Origins, Tropico 3 etc. all work perfectly with medium/high settings an x4/x4 AA/AF.

Playing SH5 1.0.1 (haven't tried 1.0), I've had horrible FPS and mouse lag issues. With every setting at minimum or off, the game manages the wonderful duality of looking horrible but maintaining the mouse lag. Hard to tell from here whether it needs a patch/driver, or just an inefficient game engine.

Pre-patch i didn't have ANY sensitivity problems. Post-patch my mouse changes sensitivity randomly.

Sometimes it's nice and smooth. Othertimes even a slight move will make me do a 360, while other times it hardly moves. What's worse is that it can change from good, to slow, to fast, back to good in the span of about 5 seconds. It's annoying, but im trying to ignore it and hope it's patched out.

Seems all my trouble starts in the boat. Especially if I leave the the control area. Occasionally in the pen it louses up. Right now I think I'm stuck in a wall in the pen. I can look around but can't move around.

i have the same prob in the ego-perspective, when i look around inside the boat, or outside. My mousemove is bucking. If i join the extern cam, i donīt have this problem.
I had deinstall my Avira-AntiVir and reinstall the game, but it doesnīt works correct. :wah:

I Had the sma eproblem and dropped the res to 59 which sort of helped then I changed the screen res down one too and this appeared to sort it out. Bit disappointed though as my laptop should eat SHV up

As a test, I tried turning down everything in the Nvidia control panel, and put SH5 to 1024x768. As ever, the mouse is silky smooth in the main menu, but laggy as hell in the actual game. Very disappointing.

My problems didn't start until after the first patch.

I'm hoping whatever they did, they will fix it in the next patch.

Could be something related with the DRM ? The problem of stay connected to ubi is that perhaps servers problems has influence in the game and is impossible to decide if you want to upgrade or not .

I found that the trick to stopping the mouse lag with my ATI 5870 is to turn V-Sync to "Default Off" in the Catalyst (v10.2) Control Panel.

I have PNY Geforce 9400GT 1gb DDR2. Got it for 100.00. If I get
Sapphire HD 5670 1gb GDDR5 for 120.00. Will the mouse lag decrease & the FPS go up.
