Hello all!!!

Destroyer Command is a game that got my attention some years ago, but as the reviews said it was very buggy and in an unfinished state, I only got to play the demo and then, never more.

But now, with the release of Silent Hunter V, it reminded me that I'm not a a U-boat guy at all, and that I don't want to play them... I wanna sink them!!! :arrgh!:

So, is there a fix for Destroyer Command? Reading through the forums it seems that there is, that are some patches and mods available that migh make the game interesting and at least...playable.

What do you recommend?

There were some patches, mods, fixes and improvements, but basically you run against certain AI limitations that can't be removed and destroy the experience. The key ones:

1) Terrible sub AI. Too easy to kill them when they simply steer a constant course, not changing depths or evading at all.

2) Basic and poor surface ships AI: Won't take correct gunnery position against you (They let you cross their T easily and don't try to present their broad side to you, so they can use all their guns), won't maneuver at all away from their scripted path, and won't use tactic formations. Enemy destroyers won't even try to screen capital ships from your torpedoes, etc, etc....

3) Bad merchant AI: They can't keep formation well when turning, they turn incorrectly.

Hitman,

Thanks. based on what I read on the forums it gave me a light of hope.
But, it seems that the game is beyond repair. That's a shame.

Well, back to SH4 then!
