Man the Flak Gun !!!... errr... please?

Last night I was out on my 'first' patrol cruising off the coast of GB and an aircraft is spotted closing fast.

Now normally I used to soil my britches and scratch for deep water anytime an aircraft even go remotely close but this is a new game and the aircraft seem to be rather begnine. So I figure what the heck lets try to shoot one.

I tell my WO to man the AA gun. He dutifully shouts out "MAN THE FLAK GUN" and nods.

Well guess what... no one mans the flak guns... what am I missing? It works for the deck gun.

Same here, I wasn't able to get anyone on the AA gun either. I also can't seem to get the deck gun guys to leave the deck gun.

WO? Watch Officer or Weapons Officer? I talked to the same guy who I told to man the deck gun, but I didn't get an option to unman the deck gun, and manning the deck gun again did nothing for me :cry:

It doesn't make sense to go see someone else to unman the deck gun, but then again there are quite a few things that don't make sense in SH5....I'll give it a try....

Well maybe so but for me I go to the same guy whatever his positon is and the option has changed from "Man Deck Gun" to "Leave Deck Gun" or something of that sort. Look again ;)

Must be a bug. It stays at Man the Deck Gun for me. :wah:

F6 doesn't help either....

Same here !!! my officier have 2 option 1-man deck gun 2- man flack gun no one works !!!!!! my officier say man the flack gun but but no one seem to comme to get it !!!!

I had the same problem. The fix was to use the binoculars to 'target' the enemy. Immediately someone manned the gun and started firing on the ship...it kinda gave me a jump as the speakers were turned up. Try that with the flak gun.

Haha... yea sure.. find and mark the aircraft in the binoculars.. that should be easy :doh:

same problem, can't get the crew to man the AA gun either, the officer calls "man AA gun" but no crew shows up... I can get crew man deck gun though

so I assume it's a bug

Airplanes never attack me, so I haven't worried about this, but yeah couldn't get anyone on the flak guns yet.

Interesting. SH4 was the same. "Man the flak gun!" "Yes sir!" "Yes sir!" "Yes sir!." No one shows. I find myself manning the thing unless I go to the screen where I can move my men around.

To find aircraft in the binoculars, use the mini-map. It will show your visual cone. Just line it up with the aircraft icon.

I hear the pilots are blind at the moment. They need some work.

I have had issues with buttons no longer working after a while. Like screenshot, remove interface..blah blah blah, even the command buttons...so who knows...

I have the issue of whenever pressing F8 for battlestations both the flak guns and deck gun get manned....underwater or not.
