I was patroling the Southwest off the Cornish coast looking for a pesky Carrier that the brass wanted sinking, when my hydrophone picked up a contact about 20 km off my stern.

Now call me Captain Cautious but I ordered all stop and dropped to periscope depth. It was a warship and (God willing) hopefully the Carrier I had come looking for. After some time it became obvious that the contact wasnt moving and so I altered course to intercept it. My thinking was that Aircraft carriers tend to act differently to the destroyers that usualy patroled these waters, carriers tend not to show up in person when Im around.

I spent 2 hours approaching at slow speed while occasionally stopping to take readings with the hydrophone. Much to my annoyance I seemed to be making no progress as the distance between me and the now suspicious contact was the same as before. So i upped my speed to Flank and hit the TC a few times. Still nothing. They were staying a fixed distance away. What the hell was going on ? I considered that my crew were taking the piss but after operating the station myself I had to believe them. There were the scary sounds of a warship under steam.

I saved my game (Captain Cautious here, I believe we have met.), surfaced and then proceeded to thrash my engineers until we were at full speed. I managed to knock maybe a km or two off the distance between us but even when I changed course to leave them behind they followed me, always at the same distance.

Finally in exasperation I zoomed the exteranl camera to get a look at these contacts. 5 destroyers. When I changed course, they changed course. When I stopped, they went back to circling like they were searching for me, just in a place 15km from where I was. I cannot lose them no matter what I do. They know when I change course and speed.

Who are these stalkers that are following me everywhere. I tried the police but they said they couldnt do anything as they hadnt commited a crime....yet :P

Anyone else noticed this very odd behaviour ? Or is it because Im a uboat rockstar and they are my groupies ?

PS Where the hell is that goddamned carrier. Im starting to think its hiding from me.

Those are just sensor ghosts. I saw it in a Star Trek episode once. You'll likely get attacked by Klingons shortly... :salute:

I've had instances while cruising past other German ships, they hit reverse instantly at speeds of 12knots and cross my path to intercept me. Sucidal fools. :06:
Some weird bugs ingame.

I had the same thing happen to me with a single enemy DD. It was the strangest thing. Finally I decided to hightail it out of there and try and lose him. I went flank speed, upped the TC, and then boom. He was on me.

If its some kind of scripted hunting behavior, it's weird. You can't shake him by outrunning him on the surface, or by diving and sneaking away. It's probably a scripted behavior, but I don't think its acting right.

I had a German Coastal Defense boat follow me from Bremen all the way to the British coast once. Just playing my wingman I guess. Luckily he turned back before I had to try anything stealthy. :)

Yep I've had the same thing happen with a single DD. As I closed within 2000m he moves away then circles. It's impossible to get closer.

I reported this in another thread. Same thing.. Only mine was like six destroyers in a perfect circle, and all destroyers were spinning around and around, while the kept an exact distance away from me.

Totally annoying.. And just show how bad the AI is in the game right now.

They´re not charging you?
Keeping distance?
Maybe you have the "special ability" DD repelent +4? :hmmm:

How long you´ve been at sea? Maybe your crew needs a shower... :rotfl2:
