Was thinking i have gotten a type VIIB, i was wrong, got a type VIIC in January 1940, WITH the 2 AA decks.
Whats with that? the first VIIC wasent sent to the atlantic before 1941 i think.

The first VIIC was U-69, comissioned in November of 1940.
A cursory glance at uboat.net tells you that. Nice going, Ubi :damn:
and it does 23 knots with the willi peltz engine overcharge :D

Ridiculous , too fast !! even for a U.S fleet boat is a very fast speed.
:nope:
The only effect must be less break downs , not warp engines

It's a dumbed down arcade SubPG. Historical accuracy in any form under those circumstances simply doesn't fit the profile and vision Ubi had of this "action adventure" game.
I think that was overwhelmingly apparent when they didn't bother to include a compass on a naval simlulation.
"Compass? Action adventure doesn't need no steenkin' compass...!" :O:

My sentiments exactly Steve. We need to expend our energy to fix it.
Leave the Bashing for the Girlyman websites.

just reading...138.000 tons in one patrol....and now you say you got 200.000 in 2 month???
this is extremly unrealistic...

Yeah, if you do the first two tonnage missions, you're expected to get 150,000 GRT sunk within the first 9 months of the war. Otto Kretschmer only got 208,954 GRT during the entire war (to be fair that was Aug '39 - May '41).

I broke 200K in one patrol. Granted I did refit once. I ran into a whole task force escorted by only 2 corvettes...needless to say it was a massacure. But note to self: troop ships do carry guns..but they dont seem to do any damage...it just looks pretty when they open up on you.
My VIIc boat I got in October '39 also does 22 knots, and I haven't even maxed out the engine upgrades yet...

Seriously? And I thought someone was joking!
Quite the far cry from high-difficulty mods, innit. Althoughin all SH games, sadly it's possible and even not that difficult to get ridiculous tonnages by exploiting gaps in the AI logic and other things. Which is why I set myself up with house rules to avoid those. Heh, in my recent playthrough of OM, I did a 14-month career on a Type II. My total tonnage in that period? 8,282t

That had to be the most boring game time ever. Though it doesnt surpise me. I bet there is even a guy or two...retired of course that doesnt even play with time compression in this game. Im all for realism...but even i have my limits haha.
Not really, but to each his own. Honestly, I look at it the other way - if the only thing that made this game exciting was blowing up ships, I'd get bored very quickly. But actually it's quite the opposite and I've always found much more to it than that.
Forgive the pun, but I find the focus on sinking stuff as the only measure of success in this game pretty shallow. :)

Crew WoW like abiities are an easy text edit.
New commands and conning tower upgrades are too, you just have to have your entry and exit dates synced properly or you end up with a boat without a conning tower.
Nothing to get your bowels in an uproar over. Infact, i'll wager it won't take long before someone figures it out. As fixing a SH game goes there are things to get upset about, but this isn't one of them. It is however, rather humorous. :haha:
