Well,
if you go up all the way on the map in northern direction, it is just at the border to Denmark. Let us say, about 400 miles north from Frankfurt.
But as I said, give my a buzz, if you get here...
Is it Hood or Renown? Well, comparing some pics, it must be Hood, she is that deep in the water, and a beauty of her own

Hi Seth,
I do not know what you are interested in... but there are some nice little towns there in the "south" which are very old and worth for sightseeing.
There is "breathtaking scenery" at Rhein and Mosel.
The German (technical) Museum (http://www.deutsches-museum.de/index.php?id=1&L=1) in Munich would be worth to visit.
I for myself would give Frankfurt (http://www.frankfurt.de/sixcms/detail.php?id=stadtfrankfurt_eval01.c.317693.en&template=hp_flash) a visit as well.
As I just found Spangdahlem near by Trier (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trier), that is a beautiful place at the river Mosel.
Enjoy yourself!
But there is no chance to dive an Uboat...

May I add the Wehrtechnische Sammlung der Bundeswehr (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wehrtechnische_Studiensammlung_Koblenz) in Koblenz? There's also the Festung Ehrenbreitstein (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festung_Ehrenbreitstein). It's not that far away from FFM or Wiesbaden.

Hi Seth,
Koblenz is not that far from Frankfurt and on the way to Trier.
Well, if you don't mind, could you add / edit "smalltalk" or something like that to the headline of this thread? We actually do need a topic like that anyway.

I wish i could live in Germany because Germany has a culture like no other. Germany is the land of beer, beautiful women, Barbarian conquerors and a very cool sounding language.

Hey Seth, were exactly are you going to visit in Germany? Frankfurt is a good jump off point given its's central location, but it's not exactly the most scenic city here. Even it's european reputation as skyscaper city prolly won't impress you much given the american background ;)
But, IF you are into roman stuff and barbarians, the Limes runs nearby and has quite a bit of roman stuff to offer, the Saalburg beeing a prime example.
But if you can break down where you are going to stay and what interests you most, it should be quite a bit easier to help you with definitie porposals =)

A lot of what i do depends on how much money i manage to get. Do you think that $300 will get me very far for two weeks? my mom is and her boyfriend will pay for stuff like transportation and the like. I love WWII stuff, but i seem to understand that a lot of Germans avoid it like the plague

Well, I think you should edit your starting (first) post, that is where you did the headline. But it doesn't really matter.
$300 for paying the entrance and some NICE German beer should do. The German Museum f.x. will cost you $12. And you can stay there from 09:00 to 17:00.

Speaking of beer, what are some definite ones i should try?
Speaking of beer, what are some definite ones i should try?
The list is too long.. :D
However, the list of which not, is way shorter (largely because of individual preference).
Taste for beer is like taste for women.. everyone has a different taste. :hmmm:
There are even people that prefer that "dish water" called Kölsch that they serve as beer in Cologne.. *runs and hides*
However, I'd say taste as many as you can while you are there. Don't bother with Becks, St Pauli Girl, Weihenstephan and some others. Those are readily available in the States.

Ready in the states is relative to your age (; Are there any "German" liquors other than jager meister?
danasan

I would prefer some really good German wines rather than the liquors made here. But that is another question.
Flensburg for example used to be the MOST famous city of rum in the past.
All the ship traffic was because of rum in the older days.
Today, there is only one factory left.
I am not advertising, so i should not link to it.
Regarding subs, a lot of uboats were scuttled here in Flensburg "bay" at the end of the war, and still there are a few remains...

Does Flensburg still produce Famous rum?
danasan

Nice to have you back here...
Well the limitation of production is a reason for not being that famous. It is a manufactory in its best sense. I visited it once, it is just a few steps away from my home... Wait a minute...
