Hi, I have already given up the movement inside the sub the fps is too low and in combination with too sensitive mouse itīs something that might cause my premature departure from this world...

but I have a problem with stutters when on the deck - fraps says that I have 36 FPS - but the movent is not smooth at all - just stuttery - any ideas where to look for a change ? I just canīt stand when the submarine doesnīt move nice and smooth.

I hav got geforce 9600M 512, and dual core procesor and 4gb ram. tried two different drivers versions, tried v-svync and different graphic options...

I had some bad stuttering too until I switched anti-aliasing in the drivers software to "application preference" (GTX260). Since then, no more stutters. Might be worth a try.

I had the same thing when shadows were enabled. Turned them off and all was well.

I've got an I7 with an ATI 4870 and the game stutters badly. It's weird because between the stuttering the frame rate is very high.

I guess the game is doing something every 1 sec or so that is causing it to stutter. The question is, is it the game doing this or the constant communications with Ubi?:damn:

Right now the stuttering makes the game unplayable for me because it breaks immersion. This is especially the case on the upper deck where the waves kind of stutter along.

Speaking of waves I did a mission in rough seas and inside the sub it was hardly rocking at all. In SH3 you would be in for a much more rocky ride.

Going back to the subject in hand, even setting my graphics to minimum I still get stuttering with no real change in framerate. There is something about the programming of this game or the DRM which is causing this, which I'm beginning to suspect has nothing to do with the graphics...

I spoke with Tech support reference the server being down.
I asked him about what video card would work to keep the fps up.

HD 5670 1gb 128bit GDDR5. ( 120.00 at buy.com) He said this would work.

fps isn't a problem - they are high - just stuttery ...

5670 is slower than a 4890 I think :)

i've got an Nvidia Quadro FX770M card on my laptop and the FPS is good enough on low graphics settings.
Only in the interior my FPS drops, but it's still very well playable.

Anything else than low graphics though and i get a slideshow..

I'm running 1900x1200 with everything set to max (apart from 50% on AA)

but I'm getting this "stutter" - even though frame rates are at 35-40 fps

Processor is a Q6600 @ 3.5 gig

even if I reduce shadows to off, water to low, aa off etc etc I still get the stutter, I don't think its GPU related ?

How would an Nvidia GeForce 9500GT hold up as far as the graphics are concerned?

Thoses stutters might not be a fps problem.
Since it happens only while looking around with the mouse.
At least here with a ATI 4870 1Go / i7 920 - 6Go DDR3

While moving with the keyboard : all smooth and ok (max settings)
Mouse look : stutter on watch, sometime in control room
Mouse look in external view : NO stutter at all !

Can anyone confirm that ?

Stuttering here also! especially on the watch, moving or not (but most when moving with mouse look). Same with all mods disabled. Everything maxed out with very good FPS. I'm running an hd5850 with latest drivers 10.2, dual core E8500, 4gb Corsair ram, XP sp3.

I've tried the "setting affinity" trick whilst alt-tabbing to force using a single core (affinity to core 0 or core 1 instead of both), but got worst.

It's really annoying!

BIG NEWS !

Switched the game to CORE 2 only and stutters are almost gone.

When I stay in in one place - no stutters, when moving very slowly slight stutters but that migh be more fps problem I am not sure yet.

When moving normal speed NO stutters.

So it really moight be multiple core thing in the end. Hope this helps:salute:

UPDATE: For some strange reason the game now runs without stuttering even on both cores. Here are other things I have done:

Defragmented hdd where game is installed
Stopped windows from creating itīs own virtual memory file and assigned space for it /because I have no idea how this works I assigned 7000MB on both disc C and D. PLayed the game about3 times since then - first two times stuterred , third time /when I switched one of the cores off - no stutter, which so far has been the case/.

Ctrl+Alt+Del in windows - then you can change it.

I have got another discovery !!

The stutters almost disapear when I unplug my USB mobile broadband modem.

So there we go. I am a victim of DRM I guess. What can I do ? Any ideas ? Is it the internet connection or the modem itself that couse this ??
Please help !

Update: Well unfortunatelly confirmed. The problem has something to do with my internet connection. I reinstalled the O2 connection manager which didnīt really help but then I tried to connect to internet without it / directly through windows/ and the stutters are much better/almost gone . Interesting stuff I must say.

Last Update: Problem solved - this time definitely. All the stutttering was due to my USB mobile broadband modem. When I bypass it the stuttering is gone. So If you have the same problem think beyond graphic cards ...
