View Full Version : Cannot Comply?

I was under attack and decided to hit the basement. As I'm under water, I click my XO and order silent running. He tells me "cannot comply."
Excuse me, what?
Am I understanding this right when I say I can't order silent running because I don't have enough "morale points"? I'd say the pissed off British DD overhead should be all the morale you need to get you to shut the hell up and be quiet. You darn well better comply with an order I give or I'm throwing you over the side.
This "morale" system is crap. It needs to be modded out ASAP.
Yep, you just run into the morale reset bug. The #1 thing that needs urgent patching right now. You SHOULD have those points, but the game ate them.
Although in all fairness, it's ludicrous that anything like that would require morale in the first place. Especially after the devs explicitly promised that morale would never prevent a crew from performing their proper functions.

Like I said - a DD launching a depth charge with your name on it should be a heck of a morale booster.
I'd love to see an enterprising modder come up with an infinite morale mod. That way I can ignore the whole stupid thing and get back to sinking ships.

Hey CCIP. I been following your progress since you got the game.
You seem to be running into this morale problem a lot.
I got the game a day later than you, I am not getting it yet.
Just wondering, how do you know morale is at 0?
I bring up my crew tab, and they all seem to be at 50%, but it never seems to change.
I have loaded saves quite a few times.
I am only in the middle of my first patrol, where are you?
Not questioning you CCIP, but it does seem a bit odd that some of us are having this problem, and for others it just does not occur.
:06:
Yeah, right now I'd just like to disable that to be honest.
But in the long run, there may be use for morale. Just in a different way and NEVER, EVER related to abilities which if a crew member refused to perform, they'd be shot for.

Agree 100%.
The morale system and the whole leveling up/special abilities is awful IMO. Hopefully someone will make a mod to remove all of it.
I don't want World of Warcraft combat buffs, I just want a crew that gradually gets better at their job the more they do it. As for morale, it is good for the game to consider it, but mostly as a negative stat to appropriate abilities in appropriate situations. Actually being in combat should negate any morale penalties.

Well I KNOW that I'm not the only one running into it but also that not everyone is running into it, and hey, I'm absolutely questioning myself here of course. Just that I've tested everything that could cause it at this point, and I really can't fault any of the game data for making it happen. Even with all the mods disabled, there's no effect. Storing saves locally or on server doesn't make a difference. Most puzzlingly, the game saves morale as it sees it - so it actually saves my crew's morale normally, but then fails to load it. Why it fails to load morale is anybody's guess...
I worded that wrong, I see that now. Didn't want to call you into question.
Please don't get me wrong CCIP.
I know it is happening to you. I didn't mean to imply otherwise.
Some weird stuff is happening to me, but not to other people (missing voices, open tubes when WEPS tells me they are closed) etc.
I wanted to establish that different people seem to be running into different bugs, that's all.

Any of the default actions the Regular officers have needs moral points. To tell how much moral points you have when you click on them they have either 3-6 circles in the right hand dialog box. These circles when FULL mean they have full moral. IE 3 Full circles means full moral. Empty circles are 1 less moral.
So if you have 3 circles and only 2 are full then you have 2 moral points. If none are full you have 0 and can't do any of the special actions which is retarded.
You can fill the circles by talking to them, and or sinking ships.
The whole system is dumb.

That might be easy (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=1291595&postcount=17), then again, it might not. I Dunno. Someone else can look into it though.
