Hi, Newbie here :salute: Im currently playing SH3 GWX

Im having to use the weapons officer as my recognition manual does not contain the correct ship??? any help would be great!

If you're engaging merchants, do not go by their flags. Just look under Handelsschiffe (merchant ships). If you spot a merchant flying a British flag, and check under the British Empire section, you are not going to see it – the country listings contain only warships. All merchants, regardless of their flags, can be found in the Handelsschiffe section.

If that doesn't help you, explain further, and we'll do our best! :)

Also, having double entries in GWX's recognition manual, is normal. One is for lighted ships the other is for real targets. And the lighted ships mast heights and running depth numbers sometimes don't match, but you shouldn't be killing them, anyway; so it really shouldn't matter.

Umm, I can't remember which is first... lighted ships or the normal ones. For manual targeting it can be important that you check off the correct entry due to the mass height differences that some of the duplicates have.
