Geez, where to start. I have the following issues with my ATI 4870 card:

No water is rendered in-game or in the museum
Tooltip text is rendered on a white background, making it almost impossible to read.
My view is frozen when I try to move through the sub, and I cannot look around when I have the right mouse button pressed down.

Other than that, the game's great. :-?

My video card drivers are up to date, and I've tried a variety of graphics settings. So, how do I fix this?

Another person (Itkovian) just reported the same issue on an nvidia card. That's not a graphics card issue - that's a corrupted install. Reinstalling did the trick for him, should work for you.

Yep, it did. I also disabled my AVG antivirus software during the reinstall, and now (so far) all is good.

Phew, glad to hear it's not GPU-related...
gettin' one of these babies shortly.

I had the exact same issue, with nVidia cards. I reinstalled after turning off AVG, and all is well.

It seems to be a problem with AVG. I have a support ticket open, hopefully it will get a support "answer" added to their list.

Do you have a legitimate reason for saying that or is it based on your feelings in this matter.

Ive heard nvidia cards make more noise but generally have more stable software. Theory aside either manufacturer is good.

I have a ATI 4890 and have had no issues whatsoever with SH5 on the highest settings. (win XP, cat 9.12)

5870 running at 1920 X 1080 4x edge detect adaptive multisampling (equivalent to 12X standard AA) all bells and whistles on, no problems, frame rate rock steady locked at 60, You can keep your Gtx 260 :har:thank you very much

i would touch ATI card only whit boxing gloves or a sledge hammer .
u really better get a nvidia gtx 260
Nope, thanks for the suggestion but i've done my research,
ATI HD 4870 1GB is my choice.

Radeon HD 4870’s bandwidth is similar (in fact 3% higher) to the GeForce GTX 260’s, the theoretical superiority of the 4870’s raw processing power over the GTX 260’s is particularly impressive considering that the 4870’s GPU has a die surface area that’s barely 45% of the Nvidia card’s!
Both the cards are fairly evenly matched in benchmarking various games, i will give you that much.
Over and out.

Anyone playing it on an ATI Radeon 256MB X800XT?

That's what I've got, but still waiting for the game to ship so haven't tried it yet......

It ran SH3 and SH4 ok.

I have a 4890 XFX with the latest drivers including the hot fix and, it runs flawless on my rig.

Most be something that you have on your computer.

My gaming machine have only the necessary to play (no anti-virus, no anti-spyware no nothing) and my laptop is on Ubuntu for the work.

I started up SH5 for a quick look (I have to put the computer to work unfortunately for the next 12 hours) and I did not notice any awkward issue with the graphics.

This with my Radeon 5850, and Catalyst 9.11 drivers.

The windowed mode did not work immediately, until I turned it off, rebooted the client, then turned it on and rebooted the client again. Default value was with windowed mode enabled, yet the game was then running at fullscreen.

I also couldn't climp up through the conning tower, until several failed attempts.

Ill chime in here alittle bit as a couple months ago i went from a gtx295 with is a great performing card no problems at all and very easily overclockable, to my 5870 crossfire.

1. wow i have a HAF coolermaster case it boy did it get quite all the sudden when i put the 5870's in thier, not only that but my whole system runs much cooler now, big plus for me.
2. image quality, much improved over the gx295, i dont like starting fights or arguments about ati vs nvidia but i noticed a big difference on games and video image quality once i changed over, especially noticeable on my 52 inch.

Only bad thing so far is the drivers from ati, im running the so called 10.3 preview/review drivers not bad but geez nvidia definately has the upper hand on certain aspects when it comes to drivers, cuda and physx.

Just my experience:up:
