View Full Version : Bought on Impulse, Steam is BS

I'm tired of Steam and their countdown timers. Don't put a count down timer unless you damn well have the game at the end. Imagine if the Ball didn't drop in times square as people shouted "5,4,3,2,1". What if a football game didn't stop as the timer hit zero? Imagine the chaos if Steam's countdown behavior was applied to all timers?
All joking aside, I am getting this on impulse, sorry steam, I hope you lose enough money to change because customer's requests aren't important enough to monitor or listen to.
The word integrity comes to mind.
I have been a Silent Hunter fan since the original, and a company shouldn't mess with people like this all in the name of profit. I waited for them stupidly, my mistake, impulse has such better customer service, what was I waiting for.
All mostly necessary negative rants aside, I can not wait to play this game, I am itching to try it out. Hope everyone has fun playing it. Until next time... ALARM!

Maybe it's not STEAM problem maybe UBI didn't want them to be selling the game on release date .Most of the games come out on STEAm few days later
Exactly. I've been watching this on steam too and NEVER did it say that it was going to be available to buy. There was no add to cart button and usually prerelease games have a preorder button, but Silent Hunter 5 didn't.
The countdown was purely until the official release in your respective region. Any disappointment is only down to your own misinterpretation. They haven't taken your money so what are you complaining about?
Presumably Valve are still working out a distribution deal with Ubi.

Just checked my order at Play.com, order status is 'packing' so I guess I will have it on friday - not that it matters, our son was born on friday so there is no time for me to play, im lucky if i can get time for 5 hours sleep :shifty:

UBI blew the release methinks.
They billed my CC for the UBI/IGN store promptly early this morning but I could not download it until 4PM :haha:
Oh well,
Installed the game and I think I have most of the new commands and GUI sorted after the shake down cruise.
Looking forword to my first cruise Tomorrow.

nevertheless it is cheeky...and audacious...think of all the people, who preordered cause of the counter, to get it earlier. And now all of them are the suckers, who still wait like everybody else.
This is not the way company collect fans.

You couldn't preorder the game on Steam...

exact same here! And i must say i was too happy to discover gamersgate so steam would lose my buy. I was certainly not going to buy it from them. The fuzzy countdown mocking behavior triggered my search for an alternate site

Now of course impulse has an error w/ the Gold edition, it won't launch on Vista 64 unless you use the executable in the directory.
What a mess, I am sure Ubisoft's strict DRM had something to do with this, but big companies like Steam have to stick up for us customers and not let things like this happen.
