In case you don't know Impluse is Stardock's "Steam like" service, SH5 is up and downloading now if you purchse it there.

Well that was fast, I figured an army of subsimmers would sign up to Impusle and kill my download but it's already downloaded and now installing.

Hmmm, I was considering this but first time I heard of the service.
What do you get as a download, a zip/rar package or some proprietary format that you can only use the Impulse client to install?
Oh, and I would be using a proxy to purchase from outside US, not sure if it will let me download after purchase (as they say D2D allows)

Don't know about the proxy. It operates pretty much the same as steam, you use the Impluse client to download, install and run.

you can purchase it with the proxy trick but i dont know about downloading it? will it allow you to download if your not in the states???

Quick tip If you buy it from Impluse:
When you launch the game the first time it's going to ask you for a Key. Right click on the SH5 line under My Games in Impulse and select View Registration to find the key.

So the game from Impulse has some kind of extra copy protection? Does it ask for a key when you launch the game from a SH5 shortcut OR is there an intermediary application you have the run to get to the game? :hmmm:

No, it's about the same as how Steam delivers "CD" Keys. Just letting people know in case they ent looking for it in an email (like I did).

I'm downloading from Impulse now at 700KB/s. For what it's worth I'd recommend Impulse to anybody. It's the least obtrusive and easiest to use download service around (at least that I've found).

Actually Good old Games is (gog.com) however, they don't have a lot of new releases because they are 100% DRM free.


Impulse is definitely better than steam customer service wise.

Hey were does impulse download the game at on your computer didnt get jack for options on installation so want to reinstall and select german dialog and install on d drive

Can anyone please confirm that you can install the Impulse version with the German voice pack? I'm just about ready to use the proxy trick because it seems it's the only way to give my hard earned money to Ubisoft.

But I won't if I don't get German voices, which were available as an option in the press preview version. They are a must.

No, I can not confirm that there are German voices. Couldn´t find them until now. If anybody knows how to set the language to German please let me know.
