Can one of our lucky owners of SH5, let us know If we can add our own music to the gramaphone, ala Sh3 and 4, Im sure if any of you are like me, we now have GB's of period music for use with SH3. I would love to know if I can use this with SH5, I love listening to the gramaphone to keep the morale up for the troops. Nothing like the Tipperary song round breakfast to get everone going :)

I don't own it, but it would be odd if the left something like that out. I mean, SH4 kept it plus added the radio. If anything, SH5 might add more, but almost certainly not less.

Thats what Im hoping for Sailor Steve, BUT until its confirmed Who knows. All I can do is keep my fingers crossed and the Das Boot soundtrack playing on Itunes :)

Just check out all the features that were in SH1 that didn't make it into later versions...
Although, as this doesn't actually affect gameplay, I have no doubt it's still in.

The game files for the radio and gramophone are still there but I haven't found a way to bring them up in the game yet. I don't think you can with the built-in interface but I haven't looked too hard yet.
Will report back, I need my radio stations too:-)

SH1 was done by a completely different team and company, and has nothing to do with anything that followed. Nothing from SH2 was used in SH3, as far as I know. SH3 was a new beginning. Some things that worked in SH3 were 'fixed' for SH4, but nothing that I've heard of was actually dropped.
Why should SH5 be any different. Of course I could be wrong. We'll find out tomorrow.:sunny:
Music? What Music?
That was the first thing i turned off.

I never use the background music either. But he was talking about the gramophone.
Is there one?

Your radio operator has to be on level 10 to use the gramaphone silly . Ask him to play it in the dialogue menu.

Same. I saw there is a radio folder BUT the radio files are the SHIV default ones.
I assume that since Honolulu is the only station by default the game probably has the ability to use a radio like in SHIV, but it was not implemented in the vanilla game and needs to be modded.

Haha..!
Oh yeah - I see a new trend emerging..... :)
Grammaphone and radio doesn't work. Radio station doesn't work either. I can't call in escorts or such as manual says is possible.

Am I the only one who's a little freaked out over this? I don't have SH5 yet, but the gramophone doesn't work, is that right?
The gramophone is a huge factor when I play SH3, I can't imagine not having it.
I swear, they rush these games out and... :nope:
I guess you guys will have the gramophone working in the next patch.

They do work - just not assigned keys ... check this link for updated commands that will allow you to access them.

I got the Gramaphone working but the volume is so low I can barely hear it. Is there a way to turn the volume up?

As you were sailor....
The gramaphone and radio are both there but have no hotkeys. I use Church's keyboard layout to activate them and they work fine.
As for adding your own music , not too sure how but I'm sure someone will be along shortly to tell you :yeah:

Not too sure about the gramaphone (as I use the radio mostly) But the radio has a volume control in the options menu. I just turned everything else down until I could hear it.
The way I have it now - you can just hear it topside , and its quite loud inside.

Yes, editing your commands.cfg (Use Church's file as a base to start) is the first step.
Check out these radio packs to see how the radio works and to add music.

With Church's file, pressing T brings up the radio. Then click the right button to scan the frequencies. The problem with this is that after it reaches your highest frequency from radio.ini, it continues searching, but doesn't return to search from 0 frequency (or the lowest frequency in radio.ini), so it is a bit of a pain to go backwards. Anyone have any ideas to prevent or change this?
I tried to add mp3s and a new channel to radio.ini, but it didn't work, so I'm guessing mp3s must be converted to ogg format. Can anyone else confirm this?
Gramophone works by pressing G (using Church's file). ogg, wav, and mp3 formats work in the Gramophone.

Hmmm, I believe that would be done at the captains log by sending contact report. Dont know why they put that there instead of the radio operator though. But still should get help if there's any near enough.
And yes, there is a grmamphone folder in the data folder where on could drop your tunes into. But just have to get the gramaphone working.
Im gonna look into enabling the key for it, but haven't had time to look into things as me and the crew are taking a break after our first patrol.
Been gettin headaches due to stareing at the screen too long, time for some R&R this weekend.
Yeah I know, what am I doin here now? Uhhhhh, taking a break from R&R?:D
