View Full Version : Very, very sad day :( (Clipboard apps)

Ok, I think this is the saddest day in my life
Last week I was hit by a car that ran a red light and when I fell, I cracked the screen on my laptop. No broken bones, but one smashed laptop.
But, that's not the sad part: the driver who struck me agreed to pay for a new laptop and the small bits on my motorcycle that were busted. So I got the new laptop today, Win7 naturally. And as I am loading on my old trusty apps... Cliptrakker does not appear to be compatible with Win7's 64-bit OS.
Oh. My. God! :wah: What am I going to do without Cliptrakker (http://www.sammsoft.com/ClipTrakkerDetails.aspx)? I've been using that since 1995, oh, oh, (choke). This is it, I think I have reached the point where computers are no longer part of my life.
Does anyone have a really good clipboard app they can recommend?
Man, oh, man.
Have you tried the snipping tool in Win7?
Not sure how you really use clip thing.

Neal - I got nothing on the clip program - but if you explain what it does I might be able to find something.
More importantly - glad your not seriously hurt. I have been forced to lay em over more than once - and its never felt good.

No, no, it's okay... really... I jus' got somethin' in my eye.
Reeeeeally would've preferred an opening phrase other than "last week I was hit by a car." :o :O:
Seriously, glad you're okay and got the laptop replaced. Still sucks to find that along with the fun of a new computer comes the realization that some old reliable personal favorite bit of software no longer works for you. Hope you can find something that makes for a nice replacement.

Thanks. I'm still pretty sore, but I heal fast.
Yeah, some part of me dies every time technology leaves one of my legacy apps behind. Cliptrakker is a little app that runs in the notif area, and every time you Cntl-C copy something, it is saved on a little file. You can move some clips you want to keep onto another tab, and pull them up any time you need to paste a well-used bit of text, such as replying to users who email me asking to join the forum using gmail:
Yeah, we had to stop allowing gmail because of all the spammers using gmail to make fake accounts. However, I can set it up manually using the gmail account you listed. Thanks for taking the time to ping me. Subsim always welcomes new members, make yourself feel at home, mate.

After a few hours of downloading one after another shareware progs and evaluating, I think I have a winner. And oddly enough, it's free. :06:

Old thread, but still looking for a good clipboard app. Tried Hot Copy Paste, it's not exactly what I need, any other ideas? Does anyone else out there do website work where keeping track of hundreds of snippets of text and code matter?

Y'ok, I am giving this one a try, Clip Spell+Help (http://www.donationcoder.com/Software/Mouser/clipboardhelpandspell/)
What got my attention: a search function, something my old Cliptrakker does not have, and I could sure use. And the creator has a great video showing all the features and how to use them.
I will miss the familiar Cliptrakker tabbed layout, though.:wah:
