View Full Version : Heads Up: Uplay sign on

For the people who're buying the game, the Uplay sign on is something you can get out of the way ahead of time. Apparently, if you've ever registered on the UBI forums, you use the same sign-on for Uplay. I found that out last night when I tried to register. I couldn't remember when I had registered or what password I'd used and the email to reset it didn't come immediately. I went to bed shortly thereafter, so I can't say for sure how long it took. So I'd recommend making sure you can sign on early. One less potential problem to worry about.

Thanks for the heads-up, turns out my old SH3 multiplayer login worked for it :).

If you are smart, you use a public email service like gmail and fake name to sign
on to Up(l)ay.
Don't provide them with personal data either.

By doing so you are able to sell the game in the future (I you wish to do so).
You must pass all Up(l)ay data to the buyer, but since no personal data is involved, this will not be a problem.

It works! The only games I sell are the console games at the EB Games. :yeah:

Shame there's no reason at all to use Uplay for Silent Hunter V except for DRM. At least the other games (AC2, Splinter Cell, RUSE) have benefits for being tied to the Uplay servers during every second of gameplay, but not Silent Hunter V.

Making a seperate account for each game does make sense, as if they ever decide to ban you for posting about DRM in the Ubi SH5 forum, using un-approved mods (or whatever), then you won't lose the ability to play your other Ubi games. Unless of course they will be profiling us and monitoring which IPs connections come in from and all that bad karma stuff.

They allow you to play it from any pc, so multiple IP numbers will not be an issue.

It's the multiple accounts from the same IP I was referring to :DL.

They are separate services as far as I know; Uplay for the whole achievement&reward business, OSP for the DRM solution. Uplay in this case could serve to let you unlock new skins, for example.

UPLAY and OSP use the same user name and password. So even if they are separate services, they are still tied together.

I already posted about that nearly a month ago (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=1254976&postcount=73), but nobody seemed to care.:D

Just a month? I posted about it as soon as the news came out, but nobody seemed to care. :rotfl2:

They're both Ubisoft services, that ties them together. Uplay is not DRM related, as far as I know.

I have the same username and password on multiple forums, but those are not tied together. ;)

Uplay and ubi.com accounts are the same (see below)

Do you have to be a member of Uplay to use this service platform?
This system requires you to have a Ubi.com account. Uplay and Ubi.com accounts are the same. You don't need to use Uplay to use this service platform, but if you wish to do so, it's very simple.http://support.uk.ubi.com/online-services-platform/

No uplay isnt related to the DRM, but the two accounts are tied together with the same username and password. you need a ubi.com account to unlock your game. this same account info will be used for uplay. the same as your uplay account can be used to unlock your game.

Yes it's all tied to a Ubi account, but OSP and Uplay are not the same, which was the original point. You can suffer from OSP without using Uplay, so they are not tied together.
