Hi,

I have installed SH3_XPSP2_Res_Fix_for_1.4b as instructed:
- Unpacked all files to SH3 folder, then ran SP2 Rez fix.bat
- edited d3d9.cfg so that it has resX=1680 and resY=1050, which refers to my display's native resolution

I then ran the game, but the resolution doesn't change. Actually when the mission has loaded, I noticed that if I scroll mouse cursor to right or down, it goes over the border like going "over screen" and I have to scroll it back a while to get the cursor back. Now if I edit d3d9.cfg to have again the basic res 1024 x 768, the mouse corsor doesn't scroll "over screen" anymore.

I also tried enabling Widescreen MOD which works in itself, but it doesn't help with the resolution problem...

I tried it with Win XP SP2 with GWX3 installed(SH has 1.4b patch), I also tried it(same computer) with Vista and with no mods installed at all. Didn't work.

Any ideas what could be wrong? My graphics card is Nvidia GF 8800 GTS 640MT and desktop resolution is set to 1680 x 1050. I have tried with different Nvidia drivers, now I have the newest.

Have you done a screenshot to make sure the resolution hasn't changed? I use this fix at 1280x1024 and the cursor also moves way off to the right and bottom, I think this is normal when using this mod. All my screenshots are at the resolution I have set and you do notice the increased detail when playing the game.

I agree with Capt Nemo.
When I use the resolution fix, my frame rate falls to single digits. And I have a good system with a powerful video card.

res fix works for me, I still get good FPS, and yes I get the "missing mouse syndrome"

IMHO the game looks better and runs better if you keep the res you set square, and have black bars left and right on your monitor. You soon get used to it.

Yes you are absolutely right, I took printscreens with different resolution settings and now I can see the difference clearly.

I think I was staring too much for the 2d-gauges, I thought they would appear smaller on the screen with higher resolutions but seems that they scale too with the resolution changes. Cool!

Sounds funny to me.
I use the fix at 1920/1080 with the "full screen" in game setting. Picture is still 4:3 so proportions are correct.
Works just fine, resolution excellent and FPS 55-60.

My GPU is an nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX/ driver 6.14.11.6921.

Maybe it could be a driver issue. If you're running an nVidia GPU/ GeForce you should try an older driver like mine. Newer ones are known to f--k up (for instance flight sims like Open Falcon). Worth trying.
Let me know about your progress mate and good luck. :hmmm:

Agreed, I couldn't get SH3 to run at all using the latest nVidia drivers under Win7

What about Win7 - workin' stable or you've seen any funny?
I won't leave XP before I really know. (Though I already have a copy...)

Works perfect for me, no corruption, no crashes (normally), no save game problems........
