I really never have been a fan of Anime... but one show that really caught my eye on adult swim was "Cowboy Bebop".
never had any clue what it was about cause i would only see an episode here and there.
been thinking about taking a long look at it, is there a good box set?
recommendations, reviews advice from any of the reliable colleagues here?
Yeah! Used to watch it when it was played last year on SBS over here. Tended to be late night though which was a bit of a pain. Another Anime I quite liked that was on recently here was Afro Samurai. Had Samuel L. Jackson doign the voice for the lead character. Tres weird but not bad stories and artwork.

How can you NOT like the guy who wrote THIS song, "How Can I Miss You When You Won't Go Away?"

Strangely enough, My wife, Pollyanna Goes To The Haight-Ashbury, used to hang out at Mike Wilhelm's house in the Haight when he and Dan were in the Amazing Charlatans and Dan personally invited her to audition for the Lickettes. She couldn't do it because her ex-husband, Richard I, nixed the deal. Maryann Price got the gig instead. She was the girl on the left in the first video who my wife resembled both physically and vocally. Here she is with another two friends of hers, Huey Lewis and Johnny Colla of the News:

It's well written, well animated and has a kick-arse soundtrack by one of animes best known composers Yoko Kanno.
Basically, yes, check it out, and be sure to watch the movie as well but watch it before the end of the series because that's when it's set. :yep:

Only seen the movie, they don't air anime around here and you can forget about buying it as well. :shifty:
But yeah, very good. Not the over-the-top anime that seems to be the standard.

Lol, don't even get me started. I keep hoping he'll come back, but so far... I know there was some talk of a feature film after they stopped doing the series but I doubt that will ever happen.
Oh well, I still have my DVDs. :D

Call me a traditionalist, but I always liked THIS guy, Shintaro Katsu as Zatoichi:

Cowboy Bebop is one of my favorites. There are a few stinker standalone episodes here and there but all the episodes that have to do with the central plotline are very good.
As far as swordfights go, I think this is the best anime version I've ever seen:
