Going to be house sitting for a week and all thats there is a single core celeron emachine! I can add some ram I have around my house, but it has integrated graphics. I doubt it has a pci e bus, but if there is a fighting chance I can get SH3 to run I'll drop a few bucks on a cheap GPU.
Is there anything I can do with this or should I just catch up on my reading?

If that Celeron is one of those 3.3+GHz jobs, I'd say you have the mips to run it. The rest is probably over my head... although I will add that my laptop uses a not-so-good integrated video adapter, and SH3 still runs fine for the most part.

I used to run it on a 1.1GHz celeron (pIII based) with 512Mb ram and a pci gfx card (thats pci not pci-e) so try to snag either a radeon9200 or an nvidea fx5200 (i think) which were both available in standard pci versions. (obviously if it has an agp slot or even pci-e you`ll have more gfx card options.)
On my old machine the framerates werent great (30fps in open sea and half that in port or in a large convoy) but certainly playable.

Thanks.
I think its closer to a 2gig machine I dont remmeber for sure. My last agp card was a nVidia5700LE and man did that suck. Cost real money too and it performed worse than the older card it replaced. Ive got a 6800 that worked real well at CRT resolutions packed away but its PCI X.
Its gonna be 2 weeks so Ive got to figure something out or Ill go nuts.
