Lets help boosting this partition.....

Personaly i'm buying the game, but im very much against UBI's version of copyprotection. I did the same with Rise of Flight, where the demand of constant online connection for single player usage was dropped in the second patch that came out for the game.
I hope UBI will reconsider and do the same.

It's " Petition "
btw Full drm is NOT dropped in RoF. :nope:
Done
This will help a lot as it goes beyond our subsim membership and into other games forums. In marketing it is the numbers game that counts.
Take a look at the language the Rise of Flight people use to pacify their customers.

I'm not buying SH5 until I can play it whenever I want. As soon as the DRM is removed, I'm going to jump at the first copy I can get my hands on.

You're right, this is not a way to make a "revolution", I am not gonna sign something that UBI don't give a ... anyway. I will just not buy the game and that's all.

The petition says that the gamers want Ubisoft to remove the DRM, so buying the game will not undermine the petition. If anything, not signing it if you don't agree with DRM will undermine it, as the percentage of signatures to sales will be lower.

You could refuse to buy the game and sign the petition, it's not mutually exclusive. Every protest you can make is a good one and every time you don't use your voice, you will never be heard.

I was kinda surprised to see how many signatures were there. I expected about 50 or so, mainly disgruntled people on this site. Instead there were 1885! I became #1886.
I'm skeptical about online petitions ever having an effect, but at least it's one more bug in their ear telling them that their plan is a bad one.

Considering your other posts on the topic of DRM, I'll go ahead and assume your comment is dripping with sarcasm.
You sound like the type of guy who wouldn't exercise his right to vote because "one vote won't make a difference" and then riducule everyone else who does. :nope:
I don't think that anyone here is under the illusion that this petition will make UBI remove the DRM. That's not the point. The point is to show them how many potential customers have a problem with it... and I think that the fact that there are already 2000+ names on it will show them that maybe it's not just a handful of people, but a real percentage of their customer base.
This type of thing gets considered when companies make business decisions that run the risk of customer backlash. While this petition won't make them remove the DRM, it could affect future decisions, especially if they know just how many people feel strongly about it.

Maybe, but UBI are still betting that many people will vote and buy anyway. Just like in the `80s when everyone said they`d vote labour but in private voted conservative.
UBI are going to sit and wait it out to see just whther people have backbone or are just jellyfish that cry a lot but still buy like sheep anyway.
I just hope people really vote and don`t pay UBI.

It is amazing how much the opposition to DRM has grown worldwide in the last few weeks. It ammounts to an unofficial boycott. Considering the candy store effect, some sales will happen. We see it in this forum. Nevertheless, unless Ubi removes DRM quickly, their sales will plummet. Considering their financial position, this could be fatal for Ubisoft.
You'll be doing Ubi a favor by signing the petitions.com thinggie :DL

Signed....it will only work if people hold off from buying SH5. The initial 3 to 4 weeks of game sells SHOULD basicly give UBI the hint. But if you buy it then you'll be helping to undo all our work.

But sorry guys, I'll buy this one like all SH games so far no mater what DRM is in it.
Das boot experience have always been what I was looking for in a subsim, and SHV is the one I dreamed of.
But I really hope UBI or someone else (...) will remove this DRM later so I can play this game at work on my laptop with no internet connection.
Best regards.
And please UBI guys, listen to us damn it. We are your fellow costumers but for how long ?
EDIT: Huh ? I joined Apr 2005 and only got 2 posts ??? WTF ??!!?? ^^

Do you mean it's gonna give more credibility to the petition if people vote twice?
