As you can see, (http://www.subsim.com/phpBB_archive1/viewtopic.php?t=27888) anxiety, tempers, hysteria, and confusion are not unknown to game releases.
And please note the instigator of this uproar and his delicate and subtle use of :damn: smilies. :O:

EDIT: browsing the archves, I found my very first post here from November of 05. I was having trouble with the black sky problem in the "Improved U-boat" mod.
Hah! I guess I'm a grizzled old vet now, because I know without even batting an eye that means a mod conflict.
i saw this same Triangle in Silent Hunter 4 and 5!

But only on the easy levels. In SH2 it was there all the time, no matter what level, and no one ever figured out a way to get rid of it.

Sure, go ahead, make fun of the triangle. But recently discovered evidence suggests that it's a battle aid with a long and noble history and has been used by many a commander to guide his forces in combat.

Nonsense. He's just an equal-opportunity triangle.

In Australia we refer to that as the 'map of Tassie', in reference to Tasmania.
Those unsure of this might check an atlas. Tasmania is a triangular island, south of mainland of Australia, and heavily forested.....
Not sure I'd trust a RED one, however.... :timeout:

Heh, it's funny, people were complaining about SH3 with good reason. It was a mess before several updates, and even then it took the modders to make something truly decent out of it. It seems that said complaints were proved valid, so why should those levelled against SH5 be any different?
Just because it's new, and has more eye candy, doesn't mean it's going to be any better than previous releases.

But there's a MAJOR difference between constructive comments and nitpicking (or continuous negative comments) that only makes an unhealthy atmosphere here.
----
I can only agree with this:
I don't think such comparisons are fair. The devs are constrained by schedule, cost, and governed by system specifications, modders are not. I'm sure that if SH5 shipped with the modded SH3 images (as superior as they are), many less players would be able to enjoy them thanks to less than adequate computer specifications.
Besides, it's only a matter of time before such accuracy finds its way into SH5 - what you see there in SH3 is certainly not only doable in SH3.

That does depend greatly on your point of view though, after all, one man's constructive criticism may be another's nitpicking. In any case, if there are continuous negative comments being raised against the game, do you not think that perhaps people may be on to something?
Just a thought.
