graphical tweaks appreciated!

hey guys - forum newbie here.

just installed SH3 on my aging laptop as I used to love playing it a few years ago on my desktop setup.
anywho - its really struggling framerate-wise and there aren't exactly a lot of tweaking options in the main game.

if anyone knows any tricks or mods i can use to get that framerate up to something playable i'd be very grateful. i did a quick search of this forum but didn't find anything suitable. its only at between 5-10 fps at the moment and i haven't gotten into a battle yet!

If you have Nvidia card
Try this setting:
AA: off
AF: off
Vsync:App
Enable Trillenar & Aniso sample optimization & Negative LOD bias: Clamp
Quality: High Perfoamance

& Don't use GWX 16km mod & any environment mod

also close all process in Task manager listed under your username before you begin & make sh3 run on high priority

works with no issues except little stutter at harbour on old 1.8 Ghz Athlon XP, 512 mb ram, Geforce 5200 FX

well i'm actually using an integrated ATI Radeon Xpress 1150. pretty useless from what i can tell. and my processor is an AMD turion64 with 1g ram on win xp.

but cheers for those tips - i'll apply some of them to my setup and hopefully it'll give me an extra few frames.

Hi John!

Unfortunately, I think SH3 won´t run with higher FPs on your rig... I tried this myself on the same specs and could not get any higher.. sorry for that but the GPU is an office only.

Yep, your machine wasn't built for gameing I'm afraid.

ha - yeah its definately not a games machine. but having said that you'd be amazed at some of the stuff it can run!
