TMO 19 RSRD 100 realism September 14 1942....USS Pike Porpoise class off Luzon Straits en route to Midway after transferred from Fremantle during patrol on 30 August.

Encounter a small convoy of 3 ships and one destroyer, unidentified.Stalk until dawn then go for scope attack.Fire last four Mark 14's in forward tubes, two each to two targets....a Biyo Maru and a Haruna Maru tanker. All but one prematurely explode then next one runs deep under biyo maru. The DD closes in fast as I head for 250 feet and silent running.DD drops a load as I pass 150 feet.Soon....BOOM....BOOM....charges are close.

I reach 250 feet before next run when DD pings me and goes to short scale, could tell he had me.Closes in and drops....most explode further off but two of them near me, hear pipes burst and steam/water shooting into control room.Check damage screen, trim pump is at 99 damage, as well as attack scope 100 damage.sonar set took damage.compress took 75 damage as well as battery and forward tube damage.

Boat soon has trouble maintaining depth keeps bouncing.Soon noticed my compressed air reserve is bleeding down fast as I bounce from depth to depth, unable to stay at 250, keep bouncing between 200 and 260 or so while enduring more charges.

This happened one before in an s boat in 1942 in TMO off the Aleutian Islands and started a big talk on the UBI SH 4 forums.I decided with trimp pup out of wack the compressed air was just being wasting trying to keep the boat in trim, since it is used in the ballast tanks.Debate was over if game figured damage in like that.Again like with the S boat, only thing it could be.I had no flooding this time(had some in s boat but it was fixed and pumped out)

Finally got trim pump repaired and was able to control boat again, like with the S boat.Anyone else had this happen?

I got stuck in about a 30 degree nose down trim one time .. had to use full back engines just to maintain depth (more or less) the boys finally got the flooding under control and was able to regain control.

I remember our other thread. To be clear, you have no flooding at all and have a hard time maintaining depth..getting the yo yo bounce effect?

I've had this happen, but after the flooding was fixed and all water pumped out, but stopped when trim pump was fixed. I've only had it happen a few times, either with hydraulics, trim pump or comp. damage.
Maybe the game just mimmicks the effect of the damage, but it has happened, just so rare to lose depth without any flooding or after it's been fixed., but I think I've seen what you once talked about.

I've never had it happen without flooding beforehand thoughh.

no flooding this time, trim pump was just knocked out. First time was in an S boat i had flooding then still couldnt control it after it was gone because trim pump was messed up.

Well, I did bounce around about 50 ft up and down until the trim pump was repaired...after flooding was fixed and all water pumped out, so somethings up...When the trim pump was fixed, all was well.
