View Full Version : Trying to start the game...HELP

DREDnot

Greeting all.

I just purchased T vs. T (boxed game) and it seems to have installed correctly.
Everything goes smooth till I get to the point that the game should start(after the little tank tread finishes).
Then a little box pops up saying "TvT.exe has stopped working" and thats as far as it goes.
I've tried uninstall and reinstall a few times but it always ends the same.
I've searched this forum for a few days before I asked but most posts are about BSOD or in game crashes.

The factory game disc looked kind of water discolored(for lack of a better description) out of the sealed box.

That kinda worries me now that I find that the company is defunct.

Do you guys have any words of wisdom on my situation?

I'm running a genuine windows 7 64 bit OS
intel core 2 duo E6550 @2.33GHz.
2GB ram G-skill
nvidia 260 GT

Dreadnot do you have these files in your game folder :

msvci70.dll
msvcp71.dll
msvcr70.dll
msvcr71.dll

Because without them the game wonīt start.

Did you buy the game new or second hand?

frinik

Other possibilities, do you have DirectX9c installed?

Some people have reported that their sound card caused crashes.

What system do you have(specs)?

Finally have you tried re-installing the game in case your install was corrupted?

Dreadnot I checked other posts about your problem and I found one which dealt with your sepcific problem. As I thought it's got to do with a missiong dll file.

You are missing the MSVCP71.dll which you can download from that link below. But check my first answer to you to see if3 you have the other 3 dll files2 the 2 70 and another 71.

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-f ... ml?msvcr71 (http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcr71)

Once you have it put it into your C:/Windows > System not the the System 32

Then the game should start normaqlly. My own install of the game already has those files incorportated but some older versions did not have it and that's why they have to be inserted manually.

TRry and let ne know.

Cheers

Alright...

I bought the game new in the sealed package.
During the install the game also installs directX9c
I dont have a separate sound card
About all I know about the specs I posted in the first post.
The motherboard is MSI
I will try to download the dll files you mention but I have never tried and don't know exactly how to go about installing said files.
Thanks for the help!

I was able to download the linked file and unzipped it to the windows system file.

Where do I look for the other 4 dll files to see if I have them?
I did not see them in the windows sytem 32 folder where there are tons of other dll files.

I found the TvT game folder and there are other folders in there. Which one of those should they be in?

frinik
02-14-10, 11:36 AM
Drednot , they should all be in your game folder the main one not in any sub folder.Thatīs where mine are.
Did you try starting the game after installing the one you downloaded?

I got mine form the defunct panzersim.com website 2 years ago.Have you tried googling them to see where they are available?I think on files4share or filefront or websites like that should be able to find them.Read the old pōsts on TvsT in the subsim forum you may find the info you need.Thatīs how I found that thing about the missing dll file.

Good luck!

Donīt look in C: windows system 32 itīs c: windows system only.

OK
I have the msvci70.dll and msvcr70.dll in the game folder but none of the 71 .dlls
the one i downloaded I put in the windows system folder which was empty at the time.
the system 32 folder was full of stuff
I did try to restart twice after putting the download in the system folder but same "tvt.exe stopped working"

I will look around for the 71.dll files

DREDnot
02-14-10, 12:00 PM
Ok I just found the msvcp71.dll
Does that need to go into the game folder?

And does the msvcr71.dll that you linked to need to go in the game folder, too, or just in the system folder?

Again, Many Thanks!

I have asked another colleague on a different post if he knows where to get those files.Hopefully heīll give me an answer.

Hang on!

frinik
02-14-10, 12:09 PM
Ok Dred I checked my own game folder and windows hereīs what I have:

1)in windows systems goes the file you downloaded .

2) in Windows 32 thatīs where the other 3 go: msvcp 70, msvcr 70 and 71.

Once you ha:DLve them that should do the trick

DREDnot
02-14-10, 12:24 PM
So I should move the two 70.dlls from the game folder and along with the mscvp71.dll that I found to the windows system 32 folder and leave the msvcr71.dll in the plain windows system folder.

is this correct?

DREDnot
02-14-10, 01:15 PM
Ok

I have
msvcp70
msvcr70
msvcr71
all in sys32

I have
msvci70
all by itself in sys

still got "TvsT.exe stopped working"

do copies of any of these need to be in the game folder, too?

is this after you start a mission so try out to start the game in windowed mode - maybe this helps, until a final solution is found

and ...

i found this in another thread:

quote [Application has failed to start because d3dx9_30.dll was not found

That error is caused by MicroSoft and there DirectX development ideals of DirectX9. Reinstall DirectX from MicroSoft's website or find the individual file on their download site.]

DREDnot

Well, after swapping dll files around, I finally got it to start a mission.

:woot::woot::woot:

Actually figured out how to start engine, then rev, then release brake, then shift into first, second, third, etc.

Actually knocked out some AT guns and T34s:yeah:

Got killed a few times and then when restarting a mission, got the veiws started jumping and eventually crashed to the desktop.

At least I'm getting somewhere.

The action is kickass when its working

Thanks for the help so far Frinik

I ended up with

msvcp71.dll all alone in the windows system folder

msvci70.dll
msvcp70.dll
msvcr70.dll
msvcr71.dll all in the windows system32 folder and a copy in the TvsT folder(just in case)

So far its working like this and I just cranked up all the visual options to max and the 1680x1050 resolution to match my monitor.
so far so good.

Thanks!!!:salute:

Hi Dred!

Happy that you got it working finally and shot a few T34s!

Re the mscvi70 it does not appear in my main game folder unlike the other 4 which is why I did not mention it and did not think it was important. My own install of the game always includes these 4 files becasue I asked my wife to make a copy of the installation cd that I bought( just for a back up in case the original gets scratched or corrupted) and she included all missing dll files in the copy which means I don't have to re-install manually them ever time.

I hiope you will cpoy ZeeWolf's Xmas release the TIgers Shake Kurtenki. Not only is that ZW -made mission a considerable improvement over the existing 1st one but it brings improvement by ricochet I guess to the other existing missions. The AI becomes livelier and the specs of the TIger and T34 are accurate. The original TvsT was tweaked by the creators ot make the T34 more solid and the Tiger weaker than they actually were. They wanted to focus on Mulit Player an dfigured that nobody would want to play the T34 if it weren't more robust and on equal terms with the Tiger. The result was of course an artificial equilibrium. Now it's over and the Soviet missions have become tough for the Sov tanks.

Cheers

TOMnikov,

Here;s what I have for Dll files in my 4 TvsT installs on 2 different laptops.They all work fine;

1) Main game folder:

msvci70
msvcp71
msvcr70
msvcr71

2) In Win32

msvcp71
msvcr71

If you have these then your game should run fine.

I run Visata Home Edition 32 on both laptops.

Makes ure that you have DirectX9C installed because your pc may come with DirectX10 which not compatible with the game.

Update your drivers and you should not have any problems.

Luck!

You can test your directx interface with: START--->RUN--->dxdiag

If no error, then update your video card drivers.

well, i've copied the 4 dlls on game folder and also on the system32, i copied all them.
If i not wrong, firstly there are 2 or 1 mvsxxx on the game folder by default, then i replaced the dlls on sys32 with the default from the TvsT one.
i also download the msvcr71.dll from link abobe.

my question is :

do the default dll on the game folder different with the sys32??
and after i followed your copying instruction why i still get error? it says objects.dll and controls.dll has wrong signature.

i installed directx9c too, stil error.
my vid driver is the latest, another game works fine.
also, i set the lowest graphics and windowed mode on TvsT.
stil the same.

my beg, can you upload your dll that make the game work?
i think i run the wrong dll maybe?
thanks..

Hi Tomnikov here;s what I found that may help you solve your problem.

If you get d3dx9_37.dll error download
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/d3dx9_37.zip?0VFjSEdLdS

Or
If you get d3dx9_30.dll error then download

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/d3dx9_30.zip?0VFjSEdLjU http://forum.esoft.in/images/misc/space.gifhttp://forum.esoft.in/images/misc/space.gifhttp://forum.esoft.in/images/misc/space.gif
and copy into C: \ WINDOWS \ system32

Here;s the website where you can find them:

Thanks for the reply.
How I know I had a dx.dll error?
Dxdiag behave peacefully.

Ok, I may try to download them for luck.
Thank you.

EDIT : I don't read the system 32 one... uh, trying now..

EDIT : anyway seems a small resistance

Link Expired

The download link of d3dx9_37.dll has expired.
Please go to the following URL to generate a new download link:
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?d3dx9_37

Why does this occur?
Every download link is unique generated and only valid for a certain time. After that time the download link is useless and you have to go to the url above to generate a new link.

Still the same.
I'm not sure that the dx dll are the problem.
Eror say controls.dll n objects.dll

No idea, just tried changing boolean value at joystick script, no luck..

Tombnikov, you should diagnose with windows to find out what the error or the source of it is!Also read the old threads of this forum those of 2008 and 2009 because a lot of them dealt with Tsv preoblems and the solutions that were found.

Good luck!

Tomnikov, did you test your DirectX with dxdiag?
Try also Windows CHKDSK (Q307654) and SFC (Q310747) tools.
My suggestions are for WXP, but there should be equivalents for Win7.

Heads up for some of you that own T34 vs Tiger, my laptop has Windows 7 Ultimate(RC2) installed and I hope since this was the last release of Win7 that I am just shouting about nothing but I can not get the game to load beyond where the tracks stop and the game begins with you starting the tank.
The screen goes black and it throws me to the desktop, I have tried running it under WinXP,Sp1,SP2,SP3,Vista,Vista Sp1 and I got the same results ever with the MMP5 update. I hope this is not a deal killer for me and I have to return to crappy Vista which I know it runs just fine on. (A first time!) :haha:

Mark

It's not Windows 7 and it's not Vista. Well, it may be, but there is a fix for your problem. See here:

http://www.panzersim.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65 (http://www.panzersim.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65)

Basically, you need to download (easy to find on Google for free) msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll. Put them in your game directory (same location that tvt.exe is). I had to do this in Vista x64 and it's been golden since then.

Enjoy! Best tank sim ever. I'm going to play the six included missions until

oh.. I tell you what I've done :-? :

-copying the instructed dll's from those posts
-disabling the joystick script
-trying reinstall directx 9c
-reinstal the TvsT on XP and copy the dll above

and after those all, I still got crash "TvsT has stopped working, objects.dll error (also controls.dll)"

I dont use deep freeze or else, and my antivirus seems peaceful.

What else? help me, i cant start the game.. :wah:

Tomnikov, did you really clean up any remannt iof your ropevious Tvst install from your drive?it sounds to me like some of the old files may have remained.Checks the caches.

Alternately try installing your game in a new drive never used before i.e the D drive and see if you still have the same error message. If you don't then it means you did not remove some of the old files. If this doesn't work then you're in deep doodoo....

That's what I do.I have my main game on the C drive and a second install on my D drive and a 3rd one( a back up on my externla hard diskF drive)

Luck!

After uninstalling TvsT, you also need to delete Windows XP Registry keys: HKEY_Current_User/ Software/ G5 Software, and HKEY_Current_User/ Software/ Microsoft/ Windows/ Current Version/ Explorer/ MenuOrder/ Start Menu2/ Programs/ Lighthouse Interactive.
