If you destroy the command deck of a merchant or destroyer, will it be rendered out of control?
Thanks in advance :salute:

I think her ability to increase engine power or turn rudder is disabled... but its not very worth it, wasting deck gun ammunition when you can just go below waterline.

I think it reducing it's accuracy, rate of fire, and precision od sensors - that's mine observation.

Hitting the command deck can be a good opening gambit if you want things to go easy for a falow up torpido attack or just don't want to have to worry about matching the tak of the target to keep your gunnery distance constant. Landing that first blow right on target can be a bit of a chalange but with practice you can gun it down fairly easey. Yesterday I came across a medium cargo vesil flaged as an enemy and landed a shot on the bridge mid attack, was trying to punch thru the hull and disable the engine or rupture the fule bunkers but missed high. I don't think the ship's AI was working quite right though because the ship wasn't trying to evaid me even after I had light them up with my 88, no spotlights or anything.
Personaly I prefer nocking the guns out on merchants if they are armed in my opening salvo, less risk to boat and crew.

In GWX it's a dangerous game to attack anything with your deck gun that can shoot back with anything bigger than a machine gun.

With Longer Repair Times mod it becomes even more dangerous. Couple of times my deck gun and flak crews were wiped out by merchant gunfire. Not to mention damage to critical systems like torpedo tubes.
My favorite method nowdays with armed merchants is to score five to ten hits to water line. It slows it down a bit so I can maneuver my boat into submerged attack position.

The quickest way to destroy the vessel is to fire below the waterline, therebye increasing the rate of flooding.
