Me and my friend discuss about this screens:

This is "museum" of all units, it look identical like SH4 - available information about unit are in the "recognition book". This and other ships will be spotted in convoys or a single ship on sea.

But the question is:
Playing 100% real, without map update. So, I don't see a color/status of unit (red-enemy, blue-ally, green-neutral).
Now I see ship. For example she is Portugal (or do I know this flag? hmmmm...). Now is allied or axis? Or other nationality: American, Norway, Greek: at 1.01.1942 they are neutral? axis? or allies? Maybe BdU send news about it. But I don't remember.
(Sorry people, but I don't know date of start war at your countries, but kids don't know too). What can I do?
Leave the game and check it on wikipedia?
:o

I believe that's a Greek flag.

My suggestion would be to create a cheat sheet, with flags and dates, with the Allied/Neutral/Axis status of the country. Print it out and tape it to the side of your computer, or wherever you can easily reference it while playing.

Or get someone to mod it into the game.

there were files in sh3 and sh4 that showed when each nation was allied with which side so you could copy that list and keep it handy for reference.

hopefully sh5 is simular in that aspect.

for me i use common sense and if a ship is on a certain heading i decide based on that, if i cant see the flag and i sink a nuetral then so what.

the way i see it is it is worse to let supplies through by hesitating then an accidental nuetral sinking
