I've ran into the problem of being bombed without knowing, sinking to the bottom of the ocean and dying too many times.
How do I remedy this?

Stay submerged during the day.

They get me at periscope depth somehow.
I am also playing with limited batteries.

It's not a FPS mod. :DL

That's kinda the reason of the mod.

To make it a little harder. We call it realism.

Well is there any way I could be notified at high time warp before I die?

The game does not alway stop you for enemy. Dive to 150 feet or better. Planes can see you at periscope depth.

But how do I charge my batteries?

AVGWarhawk

During the day you need to stay submerged. This is your first defense against enemy. You can only make about 2-3 knots to conserve the batteries. You surface at night to recharge the batteries and do some surface hunting.

Ok I'll go with that.
Any other tips to stay alive?

That is about it. Prayer helps also. Learn to use the capability of the submarine. Silent, invisible and faster than the merchants!

I'm in the XXI U-Boat, so should I surface or us my snorkel?

AVGWarhawk

If you snorkel then you leave yourself open for aircraft attack. Remember, planes can see you just below the surface.

No, at night

At 150 feet they still got me:damn:

I also recently started a late career with the XXI just for a change a pace and because I've never really played with this sub much. Operation Monsoon (I'm assuming that the stock game doesn't do this as much but I don't know) has a lot of PBYs that utilize the MAD detection system and it's a royal P.I.T.A.! :) During the day I'm traveling along submerged at 400-500' and I'm still taking lots of damage to my engine room. I've not read up on this system and how it works but I'm aware that it is totally realistic to be spotted at that depth but to be able to be hit so consistently? I'm not so sure. I mean the depth charges have to take time to travel that distance below the surface and with its' friction I would think it would be very hard to hit a sub traveling at 2-3 knots at 500' as they would have to figure out how far ahead of me to drop in order to take all the variables into account. They didn't have computers for this telling them to release now or anything but every single day while I'm traveling to my patrol area I'm getting hit. Once hit I then start to do evasive maneuvers but still... is this realistic?

I'd also appreciate any tips on trying to survive these types of attacks. I haven't died yet but boy would I like to now be hit every single day... tends to put one in a bad mood and I want a happy crew, not a pissed off wounded one. :) Thanks for any tips!

Unfortunately this makes it unrealisticaly hard when in the North Sea. They can see deeper than you can go, as the bottom is shallow. The North Sea is murky, and I'm unaware of any u-boats being bombed by aircraft there, even when at periscope depth.

Also it's somehow possible to damage you at that depth:damn:

They attacked for 24 hours!:damn:

There's no mod to fix this problem?

In 1944, 232 U-Boats were sunk and approximately 77 of those were sunk by aircraft. I did not look into where they were sunk.

Somebody posted a fix for this just a few weeks ago. Unfortunately my computer is in storage so I can't look to see what it was. I've searched every thread I could think of, but with no luck.

I know involved using S3D to look at one of the Sensor files and adjusting it to make the water opaque to the AI, but I just can't remember which one or to what. I hope someone will see this and give up the proper information.

Well then I hope some kind soul does spot this and point it out as I would like to have a little bit of fun before I die in the later days of the war... :)

I searched almost every plausible file and there is no sign of any file to mod.:damn:

Lurker posted the changes needed to nerf the MAD in the OM thread on the 12th, if you guys are still looking for it.
