I recently dusted off my FF wheel and pedals and re-installed Nascar Racing 4. My copy of GP legends has dissapeard as have the racing leagues I used to participate in.
Anyhow those two titles in my opinion were the best racing sims ever produced in the area of physics and motion and dealing with the nuts and bolts. But there nine years old now and Ive been out of the racing circuit for a long time.
What modern titles are comprable to these? If anyone says Nascar Heat Ill smack em with a potatoe ! :salute:

If it's realism your after then your best bet is probably R Factor -

If you are interested in Rallies then Richard Burns Rally is the best on the market (though already a couple of years old). I haven't played anything yet that could beat it's physics on gravel and snow and the tarmac physics are pretty good too.
But expect a lot of frustration at the beginning.:D

Richard Burns Rally and Nascar Season 2003 usually get mentioned as the two top contenders for the title "Best Physics". Both are great sims, very great sims. Add GTR2 to it with it'S plethora of addon tracks (over 300 last time I checked last summer), and you're complete. you can't go wrong with any of these. Owning all three I can say they also form a nice diversity in racing style and driving.
P.S. There is a mega-mod for Richard Burns, adding new tracks, improving graphics, etc, 700+ MBs. Check the homepage of simHQ, they currently have a 3 part editorial on it.
P.P.S. By concept and size, I liked Test Drive Unlimited, too. It's all of Hawai. But do not expect complex physics. It is a pure arcade racer. But still much fun.

rFactor has lots and lots of mods. Having a great time with GP79, a 1979 Formula 1 season mod. :yeah:

Yes. rFactor is my fav. The Indycar mod is a must have, I 'prepare' for each real-life race of the season by learning the track in rFactor. Makes what you see on TV even better.

It depends what you are after.
rFactor is my favorite, nothing beats the sheer amount of quality user content that title can offer. Name a racing series and you will find it in rFactor. GTR2 is good and I guess the Race 07 series is okay, although I never got into those as much.
Rally: Richard Burns Rally. Period.
If cost is not an issue iRacing is mind blowingly good. I dont like renting games, though.
